Subject description: EDIT: Hypnotic suggestion was used on Big Boss's clones. Pre-VR so this had to be done.

Don't be too harsh please.... Embarassed

Solid Snake, Solidus Snake, and Liquid Snake had the experience and memories of Naked Snake transplanted at birth or soon after.

Liquid Snake and Solidus within a short period of time accomplished everything Big Boss did over the course of a true lifetime. The fact that two out of three of Big Boss's clones followed in the exact same footsteps is not any coincidence. Solid Snake's beginnings as a soldier and a mercenary suggest he had been pruned for a similar fate.

Even Philanthropy, it could be argued, is a microcosm of Outer Heaven in terms of legacy.

In Metal Gear Solid 4, Liquid Ocelot turned himself into a mental doppelganger of Liquid Snake in order to fool the Patriots AI into thinking it was Liquid. But how did he know that something like this would work? He had to have some insight into the nature of the programming.

Since the Patriots AI is a byproduct of Zero's lust for control, it could be argued that an aspect of Zero's personality was included in the AI's creation.

But why clone to begin with? My theory is Zero wanted to have a mental and physical doppelganger to take Big Boss's place after killing him. If the other Patriots members knew of his intentions to assassinate Big Boss he would run the risk of losing allies. If the assassination were in secret and the clones themselves believed themselves to be "THE" Snake, how would anyone else know? EVA, Paramedic, Ocelot...they all were game for the Les Enfant Terribles project for their own personal reasons and were most likely fed a bullshit motive anyway.

Obviously the key players in the Les Enfant Terribles project would have to be left in the dark about Zero's true intentions. When all this failed (Big Boss "dies". Snake becomes pacifist.), I guess we get the beginning of S3, AI's, and Raiden, etc...

Since Ocelot has been used to introduce the element of hypnotherapy into the series, I think it could be applied retroactively to the development of Big Boss's clones.

As a sidenote, this would give more credence to the argument that Ocelot is the true anti-hero of the series. Since he is the only true descendant of The Boss, he would be the quintessential anti-hero needed to reverse the damage done by people who misinterpreted and ultimately perversed The Boss's legacy.

Ocelot probably genuinely liked the bromance between him, Big Boss and all the Snakes but I'm sure he didn't think the means were justified hence his propensity to double cross them. He probably didn't even see the clones as people.

So I guess Ocelot's only "allegiance" would be to his mother. Very Japanese apparently.

Lemme know what you think. : )

EDIT: He probably didn't even see them as people. I changed it to:

He probably didn't even see the clones as people.

Wait, what?

But then Solid Snake would have known everything that Big Boss knew, which he clearly didn't.

By that logic, Snake would've known about Operation Snake Eater, but in MGS4 EVA explained all that to Snake. Clearly Snake doesn't have BB's memories.

Snake and Liquid and Solidus have the experience that Big Boss got over the course of many years. In order to fight and survive like he has suggests that they inherited Big Boss's fighting skills from Big Boss somehow. And since they are genetically identical as well they must have been equipped with the same fighting prowess as well.

A better word for memories would be mindset. They've each been pruned for legendary mercenary status. Otherwise I don't think they would have been prone to the same path as big boss. What are the chances that three out of three of Big Boss's clones are betrayed and go rogue and meet their downfalls at the height of insurrection?

Even Snake was reported dead after the Tanker Incident.

If the idea hinges on this then the technology you are talking about would have to have existed in the late 70s.

In one of the CODEC conversations in MGS4, Snake tells Otacon that he learned CQC from Big Boss when he was at FOXHOUND.

Yeah, true - here's the awkward but interesting conversation. But Snake does also says his body "reacts naturally" (1:45)...

Well...I don't think hypnotism is hinged on 21st century advances in technology. Experiments of the mind have been being conducted for years. The explanation provided by Big Boss about Liquid Ocelot's transformation is interesting because it is a combination of new age technology and what we would now deem as new age mind techniques. Nano machines combined with mind control.

I myself have undergone programs to alter my feelings about the world to such an extent that I could hardly remember what it was like to be introverted and subdued. Then after a year I go back to it...then I do the program again and like before I am this outspoken, opinionated, and talkative person. It's an interesting system. So if I can change my whole lifestyle in real life at least temporarily based on the effects of some program, I'm sure a madman like Ocelot could convince himself he is someone else ( I love saying he double-crossed everyone...even himself ).

This said, it shouldn't be as hard to brainwash Big Boss's clones.

When Ocelot speaks with President George Sears after the credits in MGS1 that Liquid, the stronger of the two clones was killed...maybe what he meant was the clone that best resembled Big Boss (which was the intention of the program...in which case Solidus and Liquid would be the best candidates for the role of BB) is the one that lost. Superior and inferior was most likely based on who had faster developed into Big Boss much rather than who was genetically competent we'll say. Snake was genetically identical but Liquid was superior because he was more like Big Boss....even had his own Metal Gear.

Liquid may have had a deteriorating body, but he had Big Boss's warring spirit. He was, as much as could be, Big Boss whereas Solid was becoming his own person. Snake's denial of his "purpose" may in part have been part of what Liquid despised about him.

When EVA gave Snake a name, it could very well be the one thing that helped him distinguish himself from the battlefield. I don't know that Liquid or Solidus had names prior to their time on the battlefield but it would appear that having a real name is what sets him apart from his brothers and ultimately helped him to become an actual person. Something tells me EVA didn't name Solidus, George. If she had known he was the perfect clone I'm sure she would have called him Jack.
