I remember seeing a thread of people wondering what it would be like to play MGS2 like MGS1, with no First person aiming, cartwheels etc.

so has anyone ever tried doing something like that with MGS4? It might be interesting, especially if you limited yourself to weapons/items found in MGS1 with the exception of syringe/railgun for suicide geekos. Oh, and you'd have to be wearing the MGS1 face camo all the time obvs.

I doubt its possible due to the camera not locking in overhead view... If it is possible then it would just be flat out frustrating due to larger maps.

I fail enough at these games as it is... I'm not going to play a game designed with crouchwalking in mind without crouchwalking.

I did use "aim in player direction" in a few playthroughs to make it more like MGS2 and 3 though.

I think you can hipfire in mgs4... Just not certain weapons... I could be wrong though.

You need to hold down L1 every time you want to aim. From there you can either play in Gears of War mode or "FPS MGS" mode, with the former being nothing like Metal Gear and the later being more like MGS2 and 3.

The only thing you can do to best simulate MGS1's aiming system is to use the shitty auto-aim function.

This wouldn't work. MGS4 isn't designed to, like, let you hide and shit. The game relies on the Camo suit to stay hidden as opposed to actual cover. That and the fact that only the first two Acts are, like, evading patrolling enemies.

MGS4 sucked. I enjoyed Snake's Revenge more.

I thought Snake's Revenge was a pretty good game for a Stealth game on NES.

Granted, it did have more than its share of action.

And the most retarded plot/script/characters/layout/etc. of all time. Some aspects were cool, and if it were redone so as to not suck a lot of cock, it'd probably be pretty good. But it's the MGS4 of the non-canon Metal Gears, so fuck it.

3 was cool, but too short and abrupt. "FOLLOW THAT GUY! BIKE CHASE! BOSS!"

Shadow Moses would have been awesome if there were patrolling enemies instead of those stupid nut-sack things rolling around. There were those dumb Frog enemies during the Boss fight, so why not in the rest of the facility?

Act 5 sucked all-round though. Nothing could have saved it.
