It only reminds you of Snatcher because of the guy with the robot showing from his destroyed fake skin. That's a classic Snatcher shot.

And no, they're not "trying". They're making Gears of War in a futuristic environment. The characters already look like G.I. Joe. It's pretty obvious what kind of game this will be. Their target audience is bros and kids.

EDIT: Why'd you edit the Snatcher part out of your post?

No they're not trying at all, the Yakuza devs have picked a safe bet to get sales in the Western market. They wont get it in the numbers they want of course as this kind of thing cant hope to tap into the brown war shooter money pool, but I like this kind of thing anyway. More games should have robot faces underneath people.

Wait wasn't there a "last edit" thing that shows on here?

I guess the association with Japan and amazing games stuck with me. I also think because of MGS and Resi 4 subconsciously im quite bias towards Japanese shooters. Also Vanquish was the shit and that was Sega too so i was pumped for this since day one. The general vibe i get everywhere is im the only one :S

anyway great graphics, looks like a decent story solid lookin gameplay and i always liked that Japanese aesthetics, maybe we could get Vanquish skins for it lol

Would someone kindly inform me as to what this game is actually about? I've been trying to find out but the info i get is incredibly vague and unhelpful.

I gotta admit, although rare, Japanese shooters can be more fun than Western ones. Bionic Commando was underrated (story sucked though. I played with the retro skin.)

Resident Evil 5 is VERY fun as long as you play in co-op and pretend it's not a numbered game in the series. (I would say "non-canon" but I don't really think the story damages the canon that much. Not that there's much of a canon to begin with; the canon ending of RE1 is the non-existent one where everyone, including Rebecca and Barry, escape in the helicopter.) I like the fact that you can't walk and shoot at the same time.

Edit: I just remembered that Bionic Commando was outsourced to Grin, a Western developer.

Also Japanese games have this polish that few western games ever get. I love the art design too. Western titles are best at that gritty (COD) realism but i Japanese games have style.

The Demos up on PSN by the way so try it out guys. I played the Jap one before which didn't make sense to me since i don't speak any lol

I mean, Gradius V was developed by Treasure, and that was back in 2004!
