Yes.

I didn't notice a difference.

Well it always had the huge black bar underneath. "Super-Widescreen" was after all just an excuse so they could leave the bars the way they were in the originals and put less effort in it by simply widening the image. Thanks to fan pressure, they included a proper full screen option after all...

There is no skateboarding, probably because they couldn't be arsed to port two engines over.
The Snake Eater song only plays before the start menu once you've already passed the point where it plays in-game (after Virtuous Mission). It's always been like that iirc.
The credits text in the Hudson River scene was always green.

As I have been playing MGS2 and MGS3 (original ones) for the past few days, I can consent all of this. PAL region, btw.

Well, yes this is the PAL thread what what.

Really? Looks very white for me.
Other horrible but small thing - the survival menu videos showing you heal burns have terrible video artifacts in them that I saw earlier but thought may be a screen capture issue. It generally runs better without aliasing, framerate or screen tear problems I guess.
Currently trying out Peace Walker for the first time. It seems fun for now but I dont like the cheap feel it has, I guess due to the portable format it came from. Boss fights have an annoying difficulty with the whole weapon select system too. The whole experience is distracting. It smells funny. I think it's the stink of Portable Ops.....

1) Actually, the title screen reads "Sons of Liberty" instead of substance. I like it better this way. It is more consistent with the plot. I never understood where that "substance" shit got from, anyway.
2) Snake eater's facial animations were made with the japanese voices in mind (MGS4 was the frist one to redo the face animations to fit with the american dub), so if it feels like it doesn't fit with the american dubbing it is because, well, it doesn't. I too haven't noticed any difference with the original.
3) Yes, that's just how "superwidescreen" works. Better not to use it and fill the entire screen with the original frame instead.
4) I believe the skateboarding game was part of Evolution Skateboarding, which is why it isn't included. Same case scenario as Snake vs Monkey.

Substance comes from the Joy Division and New Order albums "Substance."
Those are two of Kojima's favorite bands.
Plus it means the games have more substance, what with the extra content.
As for the plot, the Title in the intro says "Sons of Liberty" in either version.

There is no Snake vs Monkey or Skateboarding (skate boarding was actually a demo for a konami skating game, which was cancelled) because Sony owns the rights to these games, and Microsoft cannot port them. Microsoft made a contract, and if they couldn't have it, neither could Sony.
Also, it was called substance because he said in an interview he had complaints about not enough content for the game. So he said they would re-launch it, adding a bit more "substance" to it.

Oh no, it wasn't cancelled. No one liked it, thought.
