Hahahahahaha why would you ever put yourself into that situation?

There's a fundamental assumption with saying the woman should mend the relationship while the man mend everything else. A couple, to be more accurate.

None of them are good, valid or even viable.

what does a woman do with her asshole each morning? she sends him out to work!
AHAHAHA...of course thats not so in my case.

Do most men care if the woman makes more money than he does?

I personally wouldn't give a shit, as long as we're both happy with our jobs and can survive.

The only inconditional love you'll ever get is your parents/family.

Unfortunately romantic love tends to decrease/mutate as time goes by, and sometimes disappear intirely.

I guess that's why the flirting phase is so exciting, we look at the other person like this new and exciting can-do no wrong thing, and, of course, the thrill of the chase. Then time passes by and people show their true colors, you take off your rose tinted glasses and sometimes have to deal with a whole different game.

That sounds horrible. I hope to have the kind of relationship as my parents. They are married 30 yrs. ..been together 33. They still are a pleasure to be around, and still flirt, and do all the date nights and etc. Especailly now that us kids are older and they can be out doing more. But they will tell you they still very much enjoy eachothers company.

Maybe that doesn't happen too often.
I hope it happens for me though.

Well maybe my description of things were a little bit tragic, but clearly nowadays couples seem to have some difficulty to keep the flame going. And I guess in a marriage scenario things get trickier.

In your parents case Julia, they seem to keep things interesting to each other, I think that's one of the key ingredients for a long lasting relationship. Unfortunately that is not true regarding all couples. Sometimes "love" is just not enough.

..and too, everyone has their own definition of love. Maybe the trick is, to find someone who has the same idea or notion.

I guess if I had to describe my parents, I would say my father lived a very full life while married. He fulfilled many of his dreams, while my mom did too staying back fulfilling her dream as a stay at home mom, while my dad traveled the world in the Navy. She never said "no" but rather supported him in his decissions...but he did that for her too. While most can feel insecure of such things, say the time spent away and how alone one can feel, I remember my dad flying home in dry ice crabs and crawl dads from New Orleans while he was there, long talks on the phone from Australia and teas being sent home from Bahrain, and sending her a really pretty cameo from Italy. I mean, they just never lost so much time while being seperate from eachother..they were interested in eachothers lives and endeavours. I don't know what goes wrong today, but if I had to say I would say people jump into marriage way before they are ready...and most with that excitement that it will last, when I would bet it over before they began.

I don't know what the answer is..but I know if I ever get married, I will be certain and not take it so light as to think I will just run to the lawyer the first time he doesnt seem the same man as he did the day I married him. People are always in the making and growing and interests change...I would love to support those changes. I mean, you should see how proud my parents are of eachother...we dont have much money wise, but we have everything we need to love and appreciate what each person is in our family as an individual. Or something like that.

As for me, I don't need to experience all the toads in the world before I find someone so compatable and respectful of me. I can wait...which I think is half the trouble of jumping into something that seems good now...but gets wishy washy every other day...Ive seen that, been there...screw that noise. Fear can ruin a really good thing.

I don't think selfish people should marry.

Another thing, and I don't mean in a selfish "I don't care" attitude, but I think people should still have their "me" time.

Girls, a man needs some space damnit! Cool

Joking aside Wink , I like to take an hour or so to read a good book, or listen to my favorite record or draw/paint an image that's on my mind. Just for a little while to indulge myself in some of my hobbies.

Constantly requiring one's attention sometimes can be tiring. And this applies not only in a relationship but also in life in general. Take some time off to do something you take pleasure in. Doesn't need to be a day, or a cople of hours, sometimes 15 minutes is enough.

Yep, girls need it too... Lots of space. But when I wanted it, "is there someone else?"

Bah...I'll wait till I'm 25 to be interested. Smile
