Subject description: You'd have to fill in the blanks...

It's a game where you have the hots for this girl in your (where else?) high school. But also while dreaming you meet some other girl, in a room and you're trapped and have to get out.

Basically it's 999 escape adventure in the dream world. Japan anime dating sim in the real game world.

The title of D3 Publisher's new 3DS game asks you to fill in the blanks: "If I were in a sealed room with girl, I'd probably XXX."

As far as Japan is concerned, the correct answer for this mad lib title is...

"If I were in a sealed room with girl, I'd probably play Love+ instead."

But what would you do Soup? D3 wants to know!

If I were in a sealed room with a girl, I'd probably ask her to play with my one-eyed snake.

In co-op.
On my PS3.
In MGS PW.

But then we would realise that PW doesn't support two players on one console, so we would have sex instead.

Well I think the answer is quite obvious: convince her that the apocalypse has happened and that we're the only ones left, destined to be the savor of the world, to which we'd have sex.

Then I'd quietly stroll out of the room-

Can anyone actually takes games like this, Catherine, etc. seriously when they look so animeish and cartoony? There's absolutely no seriousness in tone when it comes to these games, so of course everyone's answer is gonna be to butt-fuck her and then strangle her to death so that she doesn't blab to your high-school squeeze.

If they actually went for a more realistic atmosphere, maybe they'd get some actual intellect out of the gamer.

Catherine was a game about death, infidelity, and morals. I thought it was a rather serious type of game.

XXX? I thought it was already the answer for a moment there.

Catherine? Yes...

And this game is not meant to be taken seriously...

An outrageously goofy game with tons of betraying visuals can have a serious underlying message. That doesn't make (in my opinion) the packaged product serious though.

While you tagged the message spot on, you kind of are foregoing the rest of the content of the game, which puts it to almost light-hearted "Haha at this guy, he's so silly and immature and disloyal" light... I take it about as seriously as rap music videos.

Even MGS series, it's hard sometimes to accept the underlying message when he plays so much with it in many good and horrible ways.

PW and MGS1 had the clearest messages of them all to me.

MGA1/2 were among my favorites and fuck if I even know what their messages were.

My point wasn't whether the "theme" of the game was a serious one or not but whether the super-anime-look allowed the game to be taken seriously as a whole. Sorta like Johnny in MGS4 - how seriously did you take that game when entire segments were devoted to Johnny's liquid-shit?

I've never had this problem... I love anime and watch a lot of serious stuff with no problems...

Besides which, Johnny is MGS4 is comic relief... you're not supposed to take him seriously... those scenes with him were obviously meant to inject Kojima's brand of humor. It was intentional. For all the seriousness that Kojima puts in his games, not even he takes them seriously, and admits that games allow him to screw around a lot more than if these were straight up movies.

MG2 & MGS have a bone to pick with that. I know he enjoys a little humor, but I honestly think that he puts so much into the Metal Gear games now as opposed to the earlier ones because he's so fucking tired of doing them that the humor is the only thing keeping him going. He obviously stopped caring about the series a long time ago, so it's gotta kill him to churn them out at the rate he is.

Personally, I kind of like Johnny's comic relief. Poop is funny. Farts are funny. As much as war is a part of life, so is toilet humor.
