It would have probably been easier to fix the aspect ratio than to fix every little thing that rears its ugly head in the sides.

I thought there was an option to remove the black bar on the bottom of the screen? Y'know, just so you see the text. Dunno, maybe I'm thinking of another MGS game. Haven't played MGS, 2 and 3 in a while.

OH! Yeah, that's what It was. The black bar is unnecessary tbh. Especially if you want a true HD experience; but you have a damn black bar on the bottom quarter of the screen.

I hope they fix the little things on the final release. As stated earlier, Kojima is pretty much perfectionist. I have faith in him. And Bluepoint.

God damn I'm conflicted about his game... for one I'm not sure if it's worth it. I already have the essential collection but it's not HD and no Peace Walker. With the rumors of online play I would want it for PS3 (don't have one) also for the whole "transfarring thing" I guess what I'm saying is should I get a PS3 just for this game? (well others too but initially this) I mean I guess the responsible thing would be save up for car insurance and a car and a license... I AM IN DESPAIR THIS WORLD THAT RUNS ON MONEY HAS LEFT ME IN DESPAIR!

Plus online play is still just a rumor.

I don't really think that the Chosen Format is an issue so unless the screen tears during The Boss fight with The Boss I don't see the need for pitch forks RISING anytime soon...

Agreed, but to the topic of cutscenes, why can't they just..remove those boarders. Perhaps it's some type of limitation or something that might break the games. Who knows?

What you just said made me think of something that demolishes Eyestone's PR talking point: if extending the sides was done to "show more of the action" then why don't they just extend the top and bottom thus, replacing the letterboxing with "more of the action"?

The reality is that it was probably a more time consuming task to have the real-time cutscenes rendered in it's original 16:8ish aspect ratio. Of course, saying something like that and expecting fans to drop $40+ on re-releases sounds unfriendly. So lying is a better idea.

Btw: Try to get MGS2Substance,3Subsistance and Peacewalker for less than 39€/$ and add HD, upscaled textures, bonus content, 5.1 sound, transfarring, and stuff. I find it more than worthy picking up. I'm really looking foreward to this.

Yes, because it wasn't in the PS2 version. If anyone still has Document of MGS2, I bet you'll find plenty of areas where this is going to be a problem. If I could find mine I'd be checking it out.
