That comic is pants on head stupid, because while it's funny, the premise of a gold standard again in the US is just dumb. Firstly, the US doesn't even house any gold of it's own anymore. But more importantly, you can manipulate a gold standard market even easier.
You're not serious, right? ASSUMING there's actually gold still there, it's owned by the Federal Reserve Bank. In all likelihood there is little to none in there.

According to the Wiki page it is under the jurisdiction of the US Department of the Treasury, which is a separate entity from the Federal Reserve. Also this wouldn't be the first time that people thought there wasn't any gold in Fort Knox, they investigated it in the 70's or 80's

Ft. Knox jurisdiction != Gold Ownership.
I'd say it makes sense for the bankers to oversee the money in the bank, but it's not all their money.
And I'd say that for treasury dept to oversee Ft Knox makes sense, but that doesn't mean the gold contained is all ours.
Both of your articles seriously fail to address the issue at hand, which is who owns the majority of gold in Fort Knox, assuming all the gold is there.

I think even if Ron doesn't win the nomination (which is probably going to happen), one of the biggest things he has done this year is paved the way for Rand Paul to step up next election. He may be more of a paleo than his father, but he's still got a lot of good things I think.
