Representative Ronald Earnest Paul, M.D. Subject description: Fucking obstetricians!
Yep, it seems like everyone's talking about Ron Ron. Some people hate him, some people are aggressively defensive of him. Either way, it seems like both the "mainstream" right and left have strong opinions of the old guy. And because I'm an asshole that likes to stir up trouble on politically charged internet forums apparently, here's a thread to let all the "LOVEOLUTIONARIES" masturbate to their Ron Paul Rule 34 and all the detractors rage.

I like Ron Paul, but good god do I hate the overly-deffensive fanboyish Paultards.
I think it's perfectly rational to be cautious about everyone in politics. For all we know, if he gets elected, "Liberty" and "Revolution" will be as meaningless as "Hope" and "Change."
That video was the shit, I had to chuckle when the theme kicked in. Now try with Heavens Divide.
I don't follow American politics outside of the humorous talk shows and what I may catch on forums, but the little I've heard from the guy isn't the worst thing ever-- as far as ideals and intentions go, anyway. Unfortunately both words tend to become particularly twisted in practice.

Paul has the decency to admit that all he can do is what the executive branch under the constitution gives him the power to do. Here's what he said he would try to do as President: http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul647.html As you can see, a lot of it involves dealing with Congress.

Politics piss me off. So, I haven't followed too much on the candidates. I don't care for Ron Paul. Hell, I don't care for any of the candidates for 2012. The world is definitely ending after THAT election. But that's besides the point.
I can't provide too much input, because I haven't followed the race too much; but if Paul can put together some good ad campaign or some fancy words, I bet he'll win.
I would really love a smaller government. I just think the current government is way too big and controlling/demanding. If we could get ONE president who actually will do what he says he'll do, that'd be nice.

Amazing how they cover every other candidate other than Paul. Come to think of it, each time I've turned on the news this week; they kept blabbing on and on about this ugly picture of Bachmann, and Santorum. Oh yes, and Romney. The top three.
Like, so what; she's ugly, you got a bad picture, move the fuck on.

Well one obstacle is the media.
The US right now is full of disenfranchised youth and adults alike. What better way to repress them from getting a legitimate candidate (for ANYTHING) that would have to be combated and squashed in the public forum than to manifest one for them?
What better way for Group A to keep Group B misled and distracted or appeased than by positioning a Group A guy to stand as the throne of Group B?
You can't ask for a better way to control your enemies than to own/lead them. They'll see what he does, and rarely ask questions about things he doesn't tackle, he'll ask the strange questions, and represent them as they want to be, making money and doing his job all the way. All the while the ONLY question those following him will have is "How come he doesn't get more attention?" Simple. He's there to keep YOU and YOUR opinions from reaching attention, as well as pack you into a neat little box. Social segregation at it's finest paired with social control via puppet agendas of pocketed politicians.

Sounds like a pipe dream to me. Some of it sounds painfully naive, too.

Most if not all of these deployments bear little or no relationship to preserving the safety of the American people. For example, over 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the U.S. still maintains troops in Germany.
The base in Germany has long been used to send wounded soldiers to recuperate. Also an important refueling base for planes. Some, though few, bases are still needed, atleast to protect our economical interests.

Oh, I'm not saying I don't trust him. If I could vote (I hate how I'll only be 17 in late 2012), he would be my first choice.
I'm just saying it's good to be a little skeptical just so you don't look like a fool if it turns out he's full of shit.

Who else here has read "The Revolution" or "Liberty Defined"?
The former was great. It touches on many controversial issues, but it all blends in smoothly as he goes from topic to topic. It works almost like a novel with an actual story. Best of all, it's short!
I loaned it to my FOX News-watching, Obama hating*, Tea Bagging grandma. To no surprise, she liked it too.
Liberty Defined... it's a collection of 50 essays on 50 different topics... many of which could've been combined to avoid redundancy. It's the opposite of what The Revolution is; it's longer, and isn't as smooth of a read.
If you want Ron to explain his views on specific issues in more detail, then I recommend it. There's still allot of good stuff in it, whenever he's not reminding everyone that he's against the war on terror every chance he gets.
*We were eating at Bob Evans one time, and SOMEHOW the conversation went from the shuttle launch to how Obama hates America and is a gangster from Chicago. wat
