Actually I believe it was in the Demon's Souls thread.

Cross platform? Not sure how I feel about that. I mean, PS3 doesn't have many games to really call it's own, at least here in the states.
The PS3 has plenty of exclusives, perhaps just not many that you enjoy. If you're like me all the shooters the world can throw at you just go to show that too many games are the same nowadays.

I do not care for shooters either. Doubly useless to me since I can't see them and there's no autotarget system or anything like in third person games.

What exclusives does PS3 have? I only know of inFamous, LittleBig Planet, Grand Tarizmo (?), and Mod Nation Racer.

I love how nobody mentioned MGS4.

There are a lot of PS3-exclusives, though not all of them are what you would call good. To mention a few, apart from what TheParoxsym already mentioned, there's the Ratchet & Clank Future series, Katamari Forever and a lot of PSN-exclusive games like LocoRoco Cocoreccho!, Flower, Echochrome, etc.

The Shadow of the Colossus/Ico Collection will be out soon,. Tokyo Jungle is another upcoming game, though it has been delayed a few times and its current status is unknown. Final Fantasy Versus XII is a PS3-exclusive, as well.

Not really, no.

Back on topic, I am a bit skeptical about Dark Souls. Judging from the trailer, it seems to be a bit too story-oriented and looks more like a full out action adventure. Ruins the point of the original.

It's just a trailer, though. The gameplay might be drastically different from what they attempted to present there, and honestly, that seems likely.

Did you read the stuff from the link I posted?

They are focusing MORE on the gameplay this time.

What? How is that relevant to what I said?

I'm sorry I thought you meant you are fearing that the game will end up being an adventure game because they might focus on the story this time.

So did anyone else actually buy this game? It's fantastic. It's like they took Demon's Souls, told you LESS about how to play, put you in a giant web of open world (you can go anywhere, anytime, but the world isn't open planes. It's more akin to many, many Demon's Souls maps laid slightly overlapping so that they all interconnect a bit).

I'm a level 13 Wanderer. I'm taking my time leveling so I can be summoned a lot and buy up some utilities (I have the repair box, and my equip for now, now I'm focusing on upgrading it to be powerful for my level, and buying the Armor Reinforce box and Weapon Reinforce box) as well as rekindling all as many bonfires as I can. It's just nice to get a full top-up where ever you go.

If anyone wants to play with me, my PSN is TheParoxysm. I would love to coop with someone. We can play "hide the white soapstone". I plan on going Blade of the Darkmoon for my Covenant, but may be convinced otherwise if someone likes COOP a lot.

Yeah, I've got it too. Unfortunately due to... well many things I haven't been able to play or even open it yet. Sounds like a hoot and a half though. How many times have you died so far? And what is the multiplayer game like this time around? I don't play multiplayer much anyway but it's still nice to know the community.

Oh, and I'm thinking Path of the Dragon for my covenant. It's got some cool perks. Playing as a dragonoid and all that.

Edit: Please take note. I was tempted to make a, "Fuck you. I'm a dragon." joke but I was able to restrain myself.

You're welcome.

Yeah, died? A lot. Straight out of the very beginning area I tried to go a certain way (there are 3 primary options with many branches available afterwards off of the primaries from where you start) which was disastrous. Being a Wanderer, my default weapon is a slicing style. Imagine 4-1 with an stock scimitar and sLvl like 4 or something. The skeletons on that route didn't feel my blade at all. I found a mace but couldn't use it yet. Finally I found another path, and was taken into a city-esque environment that was laid out enemy-wise more similar to Demon's Souls, with more focus on being 2+ v 1. So controlling your battle, luring or just being really skilled at backstabbing/reposting is important if you're not a tank or mage.

Since beating the this boss (second I've encountered out of the beginning 'tutorial' area, 3rd altogether) I've had little trouble, as I have been accumulating lots of souls and humanity from helping people beat him. Being a Wanderer I'm very agile so I can uniquely handle the surprises that come up as well as distract it without getting my salad tossed.

I considered that, but only because most of the Covenants are really based on how you want to interact with other players. Then I started to get a feel for the plot more, and since I can coop or invade no matter what, I got the inkling that maybe I should pick as per plot.

Now I just went back to near the beginning and selected the Warrior of Sunlight for now, as that will supposedly help me get into more coop situations as you are beneficial to others.

You can change later, so it's no big deal.

I kind of threw the Path of the Dragon away though as it sounded gimmicky, and you know that's going to have an effect on stats as well. It will push your armor choices, so you'll have to decide on your class/build around that.

There was no -real- perk to Path of the Dragon other than that. The others offer not much else, except faster COOP in the Sunlight, or with the Darkmoon, I can have PvP that's world-sanctioned (if you just invade, people can indict you with a special item. Then Darkmoon people see you on the List of the Guilty as a sinner and they'll be drawn to you, as part of the system to stimulate the online play to be spurred properly.)

I don't have a PS3, but my brother does. I got him this game today and we started playing.

I just quit playing about two minutes ago, and for the first time, I'm actually glad I don't have a PS3 at home. This fucking game made me rage so goddamn hard, I actually managed to strain a tendon in my neck just from anger. Seriously. It hurts right now.

How fucking long does it have to take for my character to do ONE slash with a sword- ONE- FUCKING- SLASH. Christ I am so pissed right now.

This game is exactly what I wanted- and I must add this observation I've made: I feel like this is what a true 3D Castlevania game would be like. Has anyone realized this? It plays exactly like the original game on the NES, delayed attacks and everything.

I should play this game when I have more time, and play it along with Saints Row 3 when that comes out. I'd think the absolute soul-emptying mindless destruction from that game could counter the fucking uric acid inducing pure rage that this game puts in my every cell.

Jesus. What are video games doing to my body?
