Some of you might have played the PS3 exclusive game Demon's Souls, well (I guess everyone already knows this) it's getting a sequel, they called the entire project "Project Dark" and gave it a real name a few weeks ago, Dark Souls.
Things that have been confirmed:
-it will be multiplat, that means PS3 and Xbox 360
-the game will be open world, unlike Demon's Souls
-the game will be harder, or at least they are trying to make it harder
-finishing the game is optional, I don't quite understand this
-you can turn into some kind of monster/zombie
Here are some nice scans and more information about the game and the developers.
Is anyone here looking forward to this?
I for one can't fucking wait, Demon's Souls was the first game that gave me the "FUCK YES I HAVE A NEW VIDEO GAME" feeling when I woke up IN YEARS.

Demon Souls is not as hard as people make it it out to be. It's just trial and error, and after you're a few hours in, it's not difficult at all. I'm not saying that I don't like it, though.

I don't know about that. People send you hate mail like you run over dogs and eat babies if you invade them on 3-1 or 5-1/5-2.

The experience when you get your ass raped by new enemies that leave you clueless on how to beat them is still amazing.
And the game IS hard, I can't name a harder game from this gen, really.
But I know what you mean, I have completed the game five times now and I really don't struggle with it like I used to.
That doesn't mean the game isn't hard as fuck, everything gets easy after a while.
I hope this is what they meant when they said Dark Souls is going to be harder, that the game will be able to stress out even those who completed it several times.

Especially on NG+ and beyond.
Oh man, I have never been invaded on 3-1.
That must be fucking annoying.

The levels/worlds are harder to get through than boss battles. With the exception of Tower Knight and Maneater, I breezed through the rest of the boss battles.
About invading worlds-- I've said this before, somewhere, in some thread: playing this game online is frustrating, as is playing anything online most of the time. You're going to sit there for countless hours, waiting to connect to a world where the host doesn't disconnect as soon as you connect, and once you do connect, your opponent will disconnect as soon as they start losing. I had a long fight with this one person who invaded my world. It went on for more than 30 minutes if I remember correctly, and as soon as I defeated them, they disconnected before their dying animation ended. It was hilarious.

That is what makes waking up in the morning meaningful. I don't troll, I play a Wanderer and use plague+poison as well as stealth and backstabs to ruin people. These maps are wonders for me, and also have gotten me banned from a Demon's Souls community. Apparently it's not fair to attack in a certain way on a certain map.
Reminds me of MGO "CQC is cheap". Right, so you stand over here with skills that reduce recoil and reload time, and spray near-infinitely at me across the map. I sneak across the map, choke you out (I am helpless during) and then murder you or use you to kill your teammates OR just put you out of commission for a period of time while I get the objective. Yes I am a dirty cheater then. Damn those strategies.

I think Tower Knight is one of the easier bosses, Allant and Flamelurker are much harder
My equipment was probably very bad when I was facing Tower Knight. Flamelurker is one of the bosses that I defeated in my first attempt, along with almost every other boss really. Like I said, the bosses were pitifully easy for me, and it's not like I'm exceptionally good at this game.

I never played NG+ beyond the first level or so because I didn't want to play the same game over again. I know it's a little harder but I'd rather play something different, especially right after I've played it.

I actually take playthrough #1 on each character as a really long tutorial. "Here's some time and easy-mode to build up. Use the time wisely because soon you'll be dying a lot more than before."

I remember that. The conversation I mean, not the rage quit.
Actually I believe it was in the Demon's Souls thread.
Cross platform? Not sure how I feel about that. I mean, PS3 doesn't have many games to really call it's own, at least here in the states.

The PS3 has plenty of exclusives, perhaps just not many that you enjoy. If you're like me all the shooters the world can throw at you just go to show that too many games are the same nowadays.
