I think he meant graphics-wise, not realism wise. Because really, if you look at some of the scenes the characters look too obviously computer-generated.

I thought Smith was computer generated.

Hahaha, good point.

But srsly, in the Matrix everything's supposed to look real. Except I don't remember real life having a green filter...

Sat through these 2 yesterday, the blu ray looks nice. Still at least 30 minutes of cutting that should be done on each movie, but I still cant say not "getting it" was ever the real problem, there are many others. Definately 3/5.

Such as? Not that I want to defend the sequels, I just don't see all the problems people have with them.

So this topic encouraged me to watch the trilogy again since I realised I hadn't seen it since my early teens, during which time all I cared about was the action scenes 'cause I was a moron.

In any case, I really enjoyed myself. I think reloaded is actually my favourite, with the scene with the Architect being the highlight for me, in spite of the fact that he (understandably) blurted out a lot of exposition at super speed utilizing his thesaurus mind. Though if you keep up with him, the moment's pretty awesome, and is both a great twist and character moment for Neo. I like how the themes of choice and fate are used.

I did enjoy Revolutions a lot too, but it really gets dragged down during the real world battle for Zion. I mean, there must have been over half an hour where we follow characters that we barely know just blowing up machines, it was overlong and distracted from the main story of Neo, Morpheus and Trinity.

However, when the story regains focus the film gets really good. I love the way it all comes together in the end and I certainly have no complaints about how I'd rather have seen Neo fight a billion Smiths.

So yeah, I may review the films properly at some point rather than just leaving it at this rather vague comment but I watched both reloaded and revolutions back to back today and need to let them sink in more.

My sentiments exactly.

But my favorite moment in the Trilogy was when Neo and Trinity had seen the real sun for the very first time.

By the way Orwellian, I heavily recommend watching Animatrix too. Personally I like it much more than the main trilogy.

Does Animatrix feature the known characters from the trilogy?

Yes, though not too much.
If you haven't, seriously, SERIOUSLY watch it.

I mean, I can't fucking recommend this shit enough. It's absolutely AMAZING.

I remember watching the CG 'Flight of the Osiris' around the time the second film was out, but again, I was a dumb teenager at this point so I probably wasn't paying attention.

I found the dvd for 99p yesterday though so I'll definitely have to pick it up, it does look quite interesting.

Also, anybody played Enter The Matrix?

Same here. The only things I remember from my first viewings of The Matrix and Animatrix were that I was disappointed that the rest of Animatrix wasn't CGI (back then CGI was less common and hence more interesting than drawings) and that I thought bullet dodging was way cool.

I have. The hacking mini-game is a lot of fun, but the game itself is very repetitive and just FILLED with bugs. Honestly the game feels like it's in beta stage. I'd recommend downloading a torrent but don't push yourself to finish it, there really isn't anything amazing.

The Path of Neo was pretty good, I think.

Enter The Matrix blew.

Path of Neo was another extreme bugfest, even more so than Enter perhaps.

Seriously. The Merovingian's levels were awesome, and the close combat effects were really satisfying, but other than that, I really didn't like it. But seriously, the BUGS in those games. Jesus.

I fucking loved the special moves, looked badass as hell.
The last boss was kinda sucky though.
