The BATMAN Thread
I take it this is pretty much a general Batman thread, right?
In that case...
I got "Batman: Arkham Asylum" today. It's pretty awesome, but I hate how you have to collect those fucking Riddler trophies to unlock challenge rooms.
I want to try out the Joker but there's nothing for me to play with besides that crappy "hurr beat every1 up" level.
Edit: Just watched "Under the Red Hood" on Netflix.
Holy shit that was cool.

What I hated was those stupid Titan super goons being basically every boss fight - and then the final one turning out like that..... ugh. The rest of the game is excellent though.

I HATE BANE.
I stayed up until 12 trying to beat him. I'm playing on Hard (I thought the demo was piss easy and boring. Now the game is badass and awesome, just like how Batman should be) so the fact that the game also throws thugs at you is a real pain in the ass. I just ignore them and mash X (PS3 version. I couldn't pass up playing as the Joker) so I could get the fuck away from them.
When I beat the game, is there like a Game+ mode where you have all your shit (upgrades, completed Riddles etc.) and can go to wherever the fuck you want to go in Arkham? Because I REALLY want to get all those riddles/challenge maps.

That's the only way to really play that game. I'm not usually one of those people who think that a game has to be extremely difficult to be enjoyable but that game is a bit too easy on Normal. When I played it for the first time, I had to start over on Hard after I was 15 minutes in to it because Normal was just awful.
The Scarecrow stuff is completely awful, as is the final boss.
However, the rest is great. It really shows that the people who made the game actually care about Batman. Love all the tiny details.

Not a New Game+ but you do get to keep looking around Arkham with all your equipment. I wish there was a New Game+, I think it would increase the game's replay value.

The boss fights yes, but I disagree if you're also talking about his levels.
Personally those were some of my favorite parts of the game.

Shit, I just stumbled on another one of them.
I like the look of the levels, and I like the opening mindfuck where the game bangs you over the head on Bruce's parents getting killed. But I wouldn't say the gameplay is fun.

It seems it's unfair all around for Scarecrow because Batman: Arkham Asylum's, the video game, Scarecrow made me laugh; the sequences where you literally shine a beacon of light at Scarecrow as a metaphor is almost as, if not more, hilarious, dumb and cringeworthy as most MGS4 cutscenes.

The three hardest moments on HARD mode for me were definitely the Bane fight, the "party" thrown for Batman near the end [you'll understand], and the second to last fight. Mainly because of all the nonsense damage the goons impose and how much crap you go through to pull off combos.
The final boss actually was the biggest letdown of the whole game. The rest of it is brilliant and it's most obvious the people who worked on it loved Batman. The three different endings at the end of the credits being randomized was also neat.
Mark Hamill does a superb job with the Joker and of course the other actors are in top form as well.
The only major gripe I had with the game was the Combat Challenge missions. Everytime I try to beat one I'll be doing phenomenal and one dude will come up out of nowhere and with a single punch DISRUPT MY WHOLE COMBO. ....Why? Why wasn't there something in place that gave you a little cushion to rebound and keep it going? It's just a bit unfair is all.
Did anyone else feel the final boss was ripped off from this?
It would've probably been wiser to start the game on normal and go to hard during your second playthrough. The counter mechanic is really all that makes the difference between winning a brawl and losing it and you need to get a feel of the entire combat system before you're able to counter on hard. Chances are you'll just need a few extra retries on the harder parts of the game (just you wait till you reach the baton-weilding douchebags).
The Scarecrow stuff is awful. THe mind-fuckery is neat, but the actual gameplay is repetitive and done at least once too many times. The final boss sucked, but honestly, it's an action game with the Joker as the main villain. I couldn't expect him to not suck. Actually, bosses in general are awful in this game. Killer Croc's the worst.
