Anyway, what do you guys think about the G-man's identity?
He's like pre-MGS4 Ocelot for the Patriots of the space/time continuum or something. I dunno.
He sure as fuck isn't Gordon from the future.

The only line that suggests he may be Gordon is the one in Opposing Force: "They (Shepard's survival techniques) remind me of myself."

I think the G-man was once faced with a similar survival situation, and managed to survive, which would explain the above sentence. He then became a negotiator looking for similar skills in different people in order to hire them. He found one in Gordon, and on Shepard (well, sort of).

Speaking of Opposing Force, I would love to see another game like that. Perhaps set during the events of Half-Life 2 (or it's subsequent episodes). Even though they weren't as good, I enjoyed the parallel story lines of Blue Shift and Opposing Force.

Opposing Force kicked ass. I enjoyed seeing the events of Half-Life unfold from a different perspective.

I actually found Half-Life 2 to be superior to the first. It's episodes though... not so much, although 2 kicked major ass.

They had different atmospheres to me. The first felt like it was all about survival. The sequel lost this feel except for a few locations, but this is good because it shows Valve moving on rather than rehashing the first game's mechanics. I think game play wise the sequel came out on top.

Valve is great.
Steam, not so much. Things like Steam are one of the reasons I migrated to console gaming over PC gaming. I get that Steam's convenient. But that's all it is.

Also, Half-Life 2: Episode 3 plz

Oh my fuck, this. I remember when Valve was like, "Episodic gaming! We'll release them faster and cheaper! Pinky swear!" But now they seem to be like "Half-Life, what's that? We make zombie games and hats!"

One of the reasons I stopped playing TF2. All they add to that game are shit weapons and lame hats instead of doing things to add/improve the gameplay. Way to go, valve.

Convenient? Only now. You should've seen it back when it first launched... ah, those were the days. Valve had just purchased Counter Strike and applied that godawful 1.6 patch that amounted to 600MB of download and then HL2 came out and required me to play online long enough for it to download itself on my hard drive and register, which made rentals useless out of the box. Those were the days when a 56K connection was still predominant on many household (and definitely on most over here). It's more convenient now and its occasional store sales are great, but it still hasn't been redeemed.

By the way, I don't want Episode 3. After so much waiting, I demand they just go ahead to do HL3. It's been over two cocking years since Episode 2, damn you if you think I'll be sitting at the edge of my seat waiting for a 4-hour-long campaign.

It's been said that Episodes 1 - 3 are collectively Half-Life 3.

Interview with people from Valve wrote:
Probably a better name for it would have been Half Life 3: Episode One, but these three are what we're doing as our way of taking the next step forward, but Half-Life 2 was the name we used. [...] Half-Life 3 [a.k.a. Episodes One to Three] is about the relationship with the G-Man and what happens when he loses control of you, when you're not available to him as a tool and how he responds to that, and what are the consequences of that.

ALAS.
