What happened was a misunderstanding.
With the forums backed up to March, I went ahead to delete everything that has not been updated since the end of 2006. This is called pruning.
I calculated the amount of days and it was a success. Here's where the misunderstanding comes from: in previous forums I've worked on, this sets up an automatic pruning system which can only be canceled out by setting all forums to "zero." However, phpBB took this literally and deleted everything that was not updated... in zero days. Which of course, means everything.
What was left? The polls, interestingly enough. I guess because we were working on wither or not the poll on the front page should use phpBB code we fucked around with the coding and so it made them permanent. I could be wrong but either way, polls survived but it didn't matter because I stopped allowing people to post polls anyways.
Luckily, like I said, the mySQL database was backed up to March 30th.
However, this was around the time of I think the Peace Walker Completion Event, so I'd be losing a ton of news I spent a lot of time posting for the site. As a result, I had to copy-and-paste all of the news stories posted since March 30th into a text file so that I can manually add them after I restored the March 30th backup. Technically, these topics were not kept as-is because none of the comments, some of which were nearly a hundred, were saved because it would have been far too much trouble. So I restored the database to March 30th, posted new news stories and then within mySQL fix the thread IDs so that the links still work and adjust the dates for each post to be approximately the time they were originally posted.
Anything else posted since March 30th, I couldn't be bothered to save. Thus, The Silent Weeks.

@Lehart: May do it a little before the 24th since that's like right at Christmas...or maybe after. Depends on schedules and such. Last year we filmed the Soup Awards at Shank's and my birthday lunch.
