Well, that's that then. I'm kinda bummed that we don't get to see any more of that Interplay project, since it did look like it had potential, but considering Interplay had been gutted of pretty much every Black Isle employee who worked on Fallout a long time ago it's not a big loss. Really, how good could it have been? Running on shit tech from Masthead Studios? Who gives a shit about that? Even if they did win the case I sincerely doubt they'd ever even get close to releasing it. Gone the way of 3D Realms I say.
If Bethesda actually intends to use that MMO development studio for a Fallout game, and not just a TES MMO like you'd first expect, I'm all for it. If they can bring Obsidian in to co-create it, all the fucking better to me. Let's get this ball rolling. I'm ready for it.
A question I have on my hand though is where do the assets from Interplay's work go? Does Bethesda have that? Because from what little we knew about it the story at least sounded interesting. "The Master Lives"? " I am intrigued. I hope the plans come out online sometime. That'd be a good read. I suppose Interplay could continue with their work and just make it a non-Fallout related game, but of course that runs the risk of Zenimax bringing them back in to court if things start to get too similar.
