Can we have a Morrowind thread? I hope it doesn't get locked because it's supposed to go to the What are you currently playing thread, I mean we have CoD and Halo aswell.

Anyways, in my opinion Morrowind is the best god damn RPG ever and pretty much the only Bethesda game that isn't full of fuck.

It doesn't seem to be as popular as Oblivion so I was wondering if somebody plays it at the Soup.

Edit: I think this being a Bethesda thread is a better idea.

I downloaded Morrowind (yes I'm a scummy pirate, deal with it faggots) and spent about two hours finding mods to cram into it so it'd be more enjoyable. Then after about 10 minutes in the game I got bored and uninstalled it all. That's my tale of Morrowind

Oblivion is utterly shit without mods (ha ha console tards) but with a certain amount of them it becomes really fucking good IMO

I prefer Oblivion over Morrowind because, while running the risk of sounding like some douchebag kid who only likes CUTTING EJJ GRAFIX, it hasn't aged graciously. I really just can't play it. And the graphics aren't even the problem, I just prefer how Oblivion's works. But I will say that the storyline of Morrowind is better in my opinion. Oblivion's is more plain, although I still really like the Daedra.

I've never played any of them with mods. I'm not a PC gamer. I understand the base PC versions are better (less bugs thanks to the multitude of unofficial patches) and that modding adds some pretty awesome things. I still fucking love the game though and it's probably the game I've put the most time into other than a Pokemon game.

I'm really stoked to see what the next Elder Scrolls is like now that Bethesda has all the advancements made with Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It'll be in Skyrim though, believe me.

Mods can make Oblivion an entirely different game. I personally didn't mind the way monsters levelled with you (though some people hated it, and for them, there's a mod to 'fix' that on PC), but I just needed a lot of things tweaked (like the slow-ass arrows) to get full enjoyment out of it. I don't think I'd like Oblivion on consoles at all.

If we'll be talking about both (and possibly the next installment, whenever that is), maybe "The Elder Scrolls Thread" would be a better title. Just a suggestion.

Not a big fan of the series, though I do recognize its scale and place in gaming. Morrowind bored me to tears, on account of spending far to long walking to get somewhere. If luck had it that I'd get lost, then it was just torture.

Oblivion entertained me for several hours, but after I finished the campaign, I just couldn't be bothered with the rest of the content; a pity, considering I'd originally left all side-quests for after I was done with the stupid Gates that kept ruining my sight-seeing.

I played Oblivion with guns.

Played it for a total of about 100 hours. This game rules.
New Vegas will be awesome too.

This is a bloody shame. The main campaign in Oblivion blows; the side-quests (particularly the Dark Brotherhood) are what made it great IMO. That and Shivering Isles, which rocked

The Mages Guild questline could have made a whole game by itself if they'd put more money into making it more spectacular.

Woah, a lot of Oblivion love ITT, I respect that but I totally disagree.

And Fallout 3 was a disappointment and New Vegas seems to be overhyped.

I would like to add to that list the Mage's Guild questline (yes, I know Ronok said it already). It's almost laughable how much better the guild quests were than the vanilla game campaign ones were. Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine were both easily better than the main game... especially in terms of rewards. Not to mention that necromancers are simply the shit, and who doesn't love trippin' on some Hyst Sap?

For everybody who has posted so far I would like to say...

A celebration! Cheese for everyone! No wait... scratch that, cheese for noone. That can be a celebration too if you don't like cheese.-- Spoken by the wisest of the Daedric Princes

It's a FPS and RPG hybrid but FPS and RPG elements were broken, it had bad writing, the animations looked stupid and it wasn't nearly as open as Morrowind.

It also had a lot of bugs and glitches and it REALLY wasn't a good sequel to the Fallout series.

But I like the game, it was just a little disappointing.

I say that's all why I liked it. I love glitches (so long as they don't burn your game Mad ), the dialogue and all the funny shit in there. It's charming. I can just rock out to that shit. I still liked the story too though, although it isn't as good as Fallout 2's in my opinion. Almost as good as 1's though. BUT factoring all the DLC and side-quests, it blows anything Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, BoS, whateves... had. And factoring that in, it's much more open than Morrowind, with Point Lookout alone.
