If we'll be talking about both (and possibly the next installment, whenever that is), maybe "The Elder Scrolls Thread" would be a better title. Just a suggestion.
Not a big fan of the series, though I do recognize its scale and place in gaming. Morrowind bored me to tears, on account of spending far to long walking to get somewhere. If luck had it that I'd get lost, then it was just torture.
Oblivion entertained me for several hours, but after I finished the campaign, I just couldn't be bothered with the rest of the content; a pity, considering I'd originally left all side-quests for after I was done with the stupid Gates that kept ruining my sight-seeing.

I played Oblivion with guns.
Played it for a total of about 100 hours. This game rules.
New Vegas will be awesome too.

This is a bloody shame. The main campaign in Oblivion blows; the side-quests (particularly the Dark Brotherhood) are what made it great IMO. That and Shivering Isles, which rocked

I haven't seen any hype other than around the small sects of RPG fans I know. And not Duck and Cover.

I would like to add to that list the Mage's Guild questline (yes, I know Ronok said it already). It's almost laughable how much better the guild quests were than the vanilla game campaign ones were. Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine were both easily better than the main game... especially in terms of rewards. Not to mention that necromancers are simply the shit, and who doesn't love trippin' on some Hyst Sap?
For everybody who has posted so far I would like to say...

It's a FPS and RPG hybrid but FPS and RPG elements were broken, it had bad writing, the animations looked stupid and it wasn't nearly as open as Morrowind.
It also had a lot of bugs and glitches and it REALLY wasn't a good sequel to the Fallout series.
But I like the game, it was just a little disappointing.

I say that's all why I liked it. I love glitches (so long as they don't burn your game ), the dialogue and all the funny shit in there. It's charming. I can just rock out to that shit. I still liked the story too though, although it isn't as good as Fallout 2's in my opinion. Almost as good as 1's though. BUT factoring all the DLC and side-quests, it blows anything Fallout 1, 2, Tactics, BoS, whateves... had. And factoring that in, it's much more open than Morrowind, with Point Lookout alone.
