A dream i had once felt like it lasted for years. I met a girl, we fell in love and had had a son. I never saw his birth because i left to war, when i came back he ws 5 years old.

Ill never forget that dream, it felt so real... everything, the pain the joy and the love.
When i woke up for the first couple minutes i was heart broken to find it wasn't real.... Bizarre

The worst part is, I cant talk or call out to anyone, and I just feel so helpless. I know there is a drug like that, that puts you in that state, it was in some movie...lol. Shit is terrifying. I suppose you had gone thru the same thing not being able to move, and you were awake, right? Im in that state for about a minute or 2 at most, but it seems like a forever. /=

My friend had that before. He thought it was a Jin (demon), his whole family is superstitious and believe their mom is a medium. :S

Didn't have the heart to tell him about sleep paralysis.

The first time I ever experienced sleep paralysis it was really scary because you really can't move or speak., you can blink though so ...lol.
Anyway, what I do now is just lay there and I think "can I move a finger? my toes?" and I try until I can which is usually some seconds, like 30 maybe? but it feels like a forever. Eventually you are able to move and speak and it all comes back to you. What I don't like the most is that I don't have the ability to call out if I never do come out of something like that...lol. I know I will, but it's still a creepy feeling. Usually people grow out of such things or only experience it just a few times,,,but at 20, it can still happen.

Demons? thats possible too! lol

Well sort of. I have an Uncle who is a doctor and I told him and he too had sleep paralysis! Hes not a blood relative, but he told me I should grow out of it and most times is caused by interrupted sleep patterns. I have no set pattern and am up and not and not and up...my sleep can be really off.

lol, I hope now that I'm talking about it, I'm not drumming up the sensation! hahaha... So, if you ever can't move when you wake up, know you will and DON'T BE AFRAID! Smile

It made me a little sad there remembering it lol.

Yeah, never knew the English spelling. I always thought it was Jin like the fighter from Tekken lol.

anyway alot of Muslims are superstitious about the Jinn. Even though in the Koran, The Muslim Holy book, it says the Jinn have no influence on us. In its description of the Jinn it says they cannot enter our reality (or plane), the most they can do is whisper in your ear and suggest bad deeds. So some evil thoughts we have are from the Jinns' whispers but it is the evil within ourselves that makes us act upon them.

@Jules There also a spider-bite that gives the same results, ive heard of horror stories of when patients in surgery wake up paralyzed and feel everything :O.
The weird thing about my buddy that had it is it didn't happen again (or his sister whom it also happened to) after his family got a holyman to "exorcize" the Jinn. :S lol

I have a spider that lives in my room for a long time now. I don't mind him though..maybe he bites me? :O

It usually doesn't happen as frequent as my experiences have been with this. But hey, maybe the exorcize did make a difference! lol

As long as I wake up after a surgery, I'll be happy as so many things can go wrong as for you not to wake up! hahaha.... Oh the wonders of medicine!

I have experienced sleep apnea as a kid once. I was young so I thought what was happening was that a ghost was trying to take over my body and I was resisting but incapable of moving.

Sleep apnea is irregular breathing when you try to sleep. You mean sleep paralysis.

I think I got it after reading about in this thread some years ago. So, I blame Julia for it. duckXcore!

Seriously though I thought I was in a shitty dream where I was the guy from Johnny Got His Gun.

I've still never experienced that. I'm glad I know about it though in case I ever do find myself a little paralyzed at night. I can only imagine how fucked up I'd be if it happened when I was a little kid.

Same here.

Though I have been woken by my heartbeat before. It lasts for a second or two but during that time it's beating like a racehorse. Not pleasant.

Then either the problem was psychosomatic or...
...
...
... djinn exist.

Or maybe both?
