You're honestly going to defend everything you said with that? No, I'm not badmouthing anime-- it's just somewhat funny that anime hasn't, supposedly, been changed in "modern" times, according to you. Everything Frank Zappa said in that video Ravi posted can be applied to the anime industry as well. You have a few studios doing good innovative work while the rest is manufactured generic cheese.
I know that there is alot of generics in Anime, but for every Generic, there's a Deathnote, or a Popotan, or a Bakemongatari, or a Zone of the Enders. There's all goodness.
Not to mention alot of them are that kind of "Post modern" [I hate that term] stuff MGS2 was about.
But this isn't an Anime thread.

You haven't even played the game, have you?
It's a fun action-adventure game with a well told story. Sure, it's not a complex philosophical take on reality like "Sons of Liberty", but neither is "Indiana Jones."
Then again, maybe you think Indiana Jones is also for "baka" Americans because it isn't oozing with Japanese cum, right?
On a side note; the Halo games are good. :hides:

And that can't apply with the games industry?
Now you're just talking out of your ass.

No, I did actually play it up until you're running around a WW2 German base crawling with Zombies. I found the gameplay to be anything but fun prior to that, as well.

No. In the game industry, there's 20 generics to every original, rather than the 1-1 scale.
Honestly, the past few years have been drowned out by those 4 COD games, those [like, 4 is it?] Halo games, those 2 Battlefield games that basically combine Cod and Red Faction, "This next game is going to be a CoD Killer dudez!" that cums all over the face of gaming sites, Haze, Farcry 2, Resistance 1+2, I'm not sure if Bioshock counts, but yeah, that.
Shit, that's like 16 FPS games that only differ in art style and 1 gimmick.

Hey, you're the one that brought it up.
I said that in self pity that I can't enjoy the things normal people enjoy, simply because I have higher standards caused by my loose grip on reality, and that I actually put my brain to total fucking use, rather than drowning it in society.

I agree that mainstream gaming is, for the most part, over-saturated with generic games but I fail to see how it makes it better than the anime industry which is even more over-saturated.

If you think that Portal is an FPS with just a simple gimmick then you're very narrow-sighted. Sorry if that's a bit blunt.

Oh, please. You're not special for liking something a majority doesn't like or hasn't heard of. There's a whole stream of snowflakes.

If you weren't so narrow minded, you would realize that each of those games have their own flavor.
Call of Duty is a war shooter with an emphasis on realism and movie like set pieces. I don't like it, but whatever.
Halo is a sci-fi game with an emphasis on fun gameplay and community. Forge, saved films, Bungie.net, and file sharing, all support the community side.
CoD+Red Faction is a winning combination for a great team based multiplayer game.
It is universally agreed upon that HAZE sucks. Stop mentioning it.
Far Cry 2 is an open world game set in Africa. I don't think such a huge gameplay element can be called a "gimmick." Now, whether or not it's well done, I wouldn't know. I haven't played it.
Resistance 1 and 2 is just "eh" to me, but whatever.
Bioshock is a shooter with light RPG elements, a unique setting, and a great story.
And as I brought up; Heavy Rain, Left 4 Dead, Brutal Legend, Mass Effect, Alan Wake, Portal, Mirror's Edge, Braid, Flower, and coming soon, Six Days in Fallujah and The Last Guardian.
I'm probably missing a bunch.
And as Maxwell says, it's not like the anime industry is any better... or the films industry... or any industry for that matter...

1. How the gaming industry is better than the anime industry? Can you word that better or did you miss a point? Also, I don't even want to bring Anime into this, it's nothing to do with the conversation really, I was using it as an example. Picky pplz.
2. And no, that's why I said "Inb4LolULikePortal" because it was a very foreseeable outcome that someone would say that, just to spite me. I like Portal as much as I like Metal Gear. and the trailers make me cum.
3. I'm not special in that way, it's my motives for it that are different from most others. Again, that was a small part that can't really be argued with, because I never stated I was special, nor did I state that "IM SPECIAL BECAUSE I LIKE ANIME". Nor is that anything Special, I'm pretty sure 5/6 of the Soup like anime, I'm just a little more obsessive. Which is bad. Also, the reason I make things small is because I don't think they matter to a conversation, they're just there for me to vent shit I don't feel comfortable to vent.
Oh and Post Modern is a term I hate to use because it feels out of order, and SciFi. It basically, means to my understanding, A philosophical question, or set of questions about the world around us, human nature, etc. answered in full, and over explained via direct answer, or usage of direction in movie/game/music/whateverthefuckyouwantowatch.

If things don't matter to a conversation, don't bring them up. If you bring things up in a forum, they will be discussed.
The point isn't anime, I should add.

I want European Extreme mode back.

When you stated that you still have anime to cling on to, you compared anime to gaming. It doesn't matter if you didn't intend it.

You know, even though Kinsoku Jiko is stuck in the mentality that the anime business isn't a... business, I applaud him for turning a typical shitty "lol list some shit" thread into an actual discussion.
