Underrated film scenes/moments
I was thinking today about how a lot of my favourite scenes in films are barely even given a second look by everyone else, so I thought I'd make a topic where everyone can post scenes that they themselves love, but find are overlooked.
There are too many for me to include in a first post, so I'll just go with the one that sticks out in my mind the most at the moment.
It is from Casino Royale with Daniel Craig. It is the scene after the poker game ends, and Bond is dining with Vesper. I love the way he tries to be smooth by saying that he will call his cocktail a 'Vesper'. Vesper asks if it is because of the 'bitter after taste', Bond replies 'Because once you've tasted it, it's all you want to drink'. She laughs at this, and Bond looks quite embarrassed, saying 'I thought that was quite a good line', they then joke about it briefly.
I love this moment because we are so used to seeing Bond smooth-talk women successfully, and yet here his attempt fails, but in a way that it adds humility to the character and makes him actually more relatable. I also like the way the scene goes on to explore both Bond and Vesper, as Vesper brings up the morality of Bond's killing which you can tell hits a sensitive area on him, and in retaliation he moves around the subject and brings up Vesper's rather enigmatic personality.
It is probably overlooked due to the fact that there are so many memorable moments in the film, and it plays out very subtly. But nevertheless, for me, it was one of the best moments of the film.

Re: Underrated film scenes/moments
This movie (Casino Royale) and Goldeneye are probably my favorite Bond films. Martin Campbell is the shit making Bond movies. He knows what he's doing.
On topic, now that you mention Bond I thought of the starting scene in Goldeneye, the bungee jump. After watching a behind the scenes of how they did it, I acquired much respect for the stunt, and I just don't see it got the attention that it deserved.
LOOK AT THAT SHIT. It's a jump of 6000 feet I think. Not any dude can do such a thing.
This is probably my favorite movie scene of all time. I even wrote a whole paper about it. Most people who have seen this movie only remember it for it's confusing plot or the scene where Naomi Watts makes out with that other girl. I think it's totally genius because it completely captures a terrifying, ominous experience without there being anything overtly scary about the situation itself.

I don't think there's a clip of it on Youtube, but there's a scene near the end of Sling Blade, where Karl is saying goodbye to Vaughn, and he says, "That boy, Frank. He lives inside of his own heart. That's an awful big place to live in. You take care of that boy." And it gets me every time. It's the one scene from a movie that I know of that will make me tear up every single time I see it.

My favorite scene that is really underrated is in heat..at the end when they rob the bank and val kilmar see the cop across the street. He doesnt even hesitates a moment and just unloads his automatic weapon down range..Why I love that part soo much it give the viewer the reality on how professional they really are and everytime I see that part I get chills down my spine.

The scene in Blade 2 where Blade and Bloodpack walk towards the nightclub in slow motion while Whistler sets up the sniper on the roof.
Fuck yeah. Gives me a boner every time.

They've at least changed their cast I hope?
Because that kid who played Potter must be like 30 by now.

It seems amusing but I'm going to warn about spoilers in a 50 year old movie.
The ending of Anatomy of a Murder had me floored. James Stewart and his partner go to collect their payment and their client skipped out on the bill and beat his wife because he believed she was a lying whore that was actually cheating on him, and not raped.
Then there' the last in scene in Stalag 17 when Sefton nails who the German spy is and then they throw him out of the building with tin cans tied to him to alert the guards. He gets blasted by the MG team while yelling "I'm German" in his native language.
