I think Gray Fox is actually Solidus. I mean think about it, he had the same exoskeleton technology in MGS2. In MGS1 he disguised himself as Fox so no one would suspect his existence and then he faked his own death Then he killed Liquid it wasn't Fox die he actually shot him but from far away so Snake didn't see the shot and then Solidus killed Raiden's parents and then he killed Raiden and stole his identity.

Although if you killed ocelot then it would be a completely different metal gear universe! And thats the easiest way to get a time paradox the first time through.
