The Ryan Patton Dam was interviewed with GameTrailers (a reliable source because they have game trailers and a microphone) a long time ago.

While most of the interview was essentially a rehash of what we covered during Tokyo Game Show 2007, Payton revealed few interesting tidbits here and there, with a couple of even more interesting ones.

First off, sometimes, Snake will actually remember something and the CIRCLE button will appear in the upper-right corner of the screen. Fucking press it, and you will see what he's thinking. I know this isn't Super Smash Bros: Brawl, but I decided to use it as an example of how this may work:



Lastly, could the game ship with two different control schemes?

"We introduce two different control schemes too so one made for the Japanese... like, mindset and one for western gamers! ...So a lot of Japanese players, they have a hard time using both analogue sticks and shooting at the same time..."

I seriously didn't know this. I figured out why though. It's because of how the Japanese eat and what Americans do to graduate high school and play in general. Canadians don't count.



As for me, I guess I can go with both control schemes. Not because I eat sushi with chopsticks and have the ability to play football, but because I eat out with women and then play with their titties. Enjoy your Kermit Sushimi and football. Not futbol.

Oh, and riddle me this: You play as Snake at the beginning and at the end, but you will not play a new character. What.

Well, i'll be getting both versions anyway. US and JP. I know i'm probably gonna like the JP controls better, but I really want to see what Payton does for the US scheme. Maybe it'll be better than the JP. Doubt it, but it could be.

seriously, is it to hard to have the control profile INSIDE the fuckin game?u know like OPTION---CONTROL---CONFIG A, CONFIG B?

i mean, MGS4 will be on blu ray aight>? so would it cost the space (50gigs i heard) to add anohter control profile?

If they did do it this way though, as described; "You can use the JP configuration, where you get auto-lock, or you can use the US configuration, where you get over-the-shoulder view", it wouldn't make sense to have to go into the Options menu every time you wanted to change it, because surely, you'd want both for different situations. It would only make sense to have some toggle button or something, like, with The Twin Snakes, say you hold Select and press "X" to toggle the aiming modes, Select + "Square" for CODEC, etc.

Exactly. I wouldn't mind being able to switch between configs. As long as they do it in a way so you can toggle one on, and turn another off, as you said. But you got Payton who probably will fuck things up and say, "No, US get theirs, JP gets theirs, and EU gets fucked, now fuck off"

Ha ha, I could picture Payton in an interview with that smirk of his that just wanna slap off of him...

"The US version of the game will get the precision aiming mode, whereas the Japanese version will get the auto-aiming function. As for the European version, due recent issues with censoring material from games, we decided to take it one step further and completely eliminated the player's ability to use weapons overall. So now, Snake will have to rely totally on his wits to beat the enemy, rather than his arsenal. We're really excited about it!"
