While the administration of The Snake Soup forums will be respecting everybody's free speech on these forums, there must be rules to make sure that this right is not being abused. There must be some control over abuse.

A violation of the following rules will result in the issuing of WARNINGs. These WARNINGs will be posted on your profile. With three warnings, a ban will be issued. Bans are posted in the CRIME AND PUNISHMENT topic in THE 'SOUP forum.

Punishment is as follows:
First ban = One Day Ban OR $5 via PayPal
Second ban = One Week Ban OR $10 via PayPal
Third ban = One Month Ban OR One Week Ban + $15 via PayPal
Fourth ban = One Year Ban OR One Month Ban + $30 via PayPal
Final ban = Banned forever, bitch

The following rules may be edited. Whenever they are, I will reply to this topic mentioning that they have been updated. Always keep updated with the rules if you don't want to be banned for being a whiny bitch.

#1 - NO STUPIDITY EDITED 03/14/07
No 1337, no stupid jokes about cheese, monkeys, and such.

03/12/07 EDIT - While there are moments where a reply is best said with a word or phrase or something, try to keep it to a minimum. I mean like answering rhetorical questions, or posts with "LOL" or a laughing emoticon. Nobody cares if you laugh out loud, asshole.

03/14/07 EDIT - Also, nobody gives a fuck if you're making a post using your PSP, cellphone, intoxicated mind, loose labia, etc. So don't mention it. However, feel free to do so to make someone else feel like an ass (even though they won't) should they ask why your post fails at English.

#2 - NO PERSONAL BULLSHIT EDITED 09/06/07
What I mean is that if YOU have something to say to someone on these forums, such as a comment about their signature, avatar, or how much you want them dead, private message them instead. DO NOT post a topic or comment unless it is actually on-topic. Nobody cares about your fucking drama with other people.

09/06/07 EDIT - An exception to this rule is anything directed to Ravi Singh and The Snake Soup.

#3 - CONSISTENCY
A natural conversation always tends to change subject rather quickly. Thus, topics are allowed to go off topic as long as they don't violate any other rules here. One such rule is that it must be related to a post in said topic. For example, the following:
Topic starts about pizza
Someone comments about olive pizza being good
Someone else comments about Pizza Hut being bad
Someone asks if anybody has seen Wayne's World where Wayne opens a Pizza Hut box while talking about selling out.
Someone replies that Wayne's World was not that bad of a movie.
Is alright. The person talking about the Pizza Hut box made it clear that it was related. However, had this happened:
Topic starts about pizza
Someone comments about olive pizza being good
Someone else comments about Pizza Hut being bad
Someone replies about Wayne's World being funny.
The last replier would have been warned due to the unclear connection to pizza, olives, Pizza Hut, etc. DO NOT BE RANDOM.

#4 - STAY IN DESIGNATED FORUMS
The forums are clearly marked with what content they should have. If not, we probably would just move them to the correct forum and not bug you about it.

HOWEVER, you ABSOLUTELY MAY NOT post anything that may be considered to be a spoiler for any upcoming Metal Gear Solid games if there is a designated forum for it. We will move it to it's correct forum, but you will INSTANTLY BE ISSUED THREE WARNINGS for doing so. While I don't care about spoilers, some people do, and we want those people to be able to participate in these forums without ruining something for them... or whatever.

05/27/08 EDIT - You cannot put spoilers for an upcoming game in the "subject" or "subject description" fields on the topic until one week after it's release in any territory.

#5 - YOU ARE... YOU EDITED 11/02/07
DO NOT try to impersonate anyone on these forums by changing your name or avatar or anything that may convince others that you are someone else. This will result in TWO WARNINGS BEING ISSUED.

If you change your name, you must notify everyone by posting in our NAME CHANGE topic under THE 'SOUP. Failure to do so will result in TWO WARNINGS.

07/08/06 EDIT - In addition, you may only use ONE account for these forums. If you are found using more than one, you will be automatically given FIFTEEN WARNINGS, which means that you are banned forever unless you give me an offer I can't refuse (PayPal) and you will be unbanned until you are issued two more warnings.

11/02/07 EDIT - If you share an IP address with someone who is another member of this site, PLEASE LET US KNOW via the "Hello, Goodbye" topic in "Sit Down, Relax, and Hate." You may be sharing an IP address by logging onto The 'Soup at your friend's house, on your friend's computer, in a public place you and your friend visit, and so forth. There are instances were two users share an IP Address without even knowing eachother in which we will investigate. However, if you are friends, siblings, and so forth, a warning will be issued to both parties because it's a waste of time trying to figure out if you're breaking Rule #5 or not.

08/08/08 EDIT - Are you a mod? No? Then don't fucking make a post about somebody breaking the rules. If you are that much of a fucking white knight, then just PM somebody who gives a fuck (hint: nobody).

#6 - PUT A WALL BEHIND SEEDY PICTURES
02/16/09 EDIT - While I will permit such "seedy pictures" to be posted on these forums via a post, avatar, or signature, if they do not violate any other rule, I will ask that anything that's "NC-17" and above be linked to with a link that CLEARLY explains what is behind the link. Don't post a link that says "LOL My MySpace" and it actually links to TubGirl.

#7 - I AM THE OWNER, SO FUCK YOU
I own this place. If you do not like the rules, the way I run things, or whatever, leave. I do not care if you think people use "colorful" words here. I do not care if you are offending. I clearly stated in the registration agreement that you actually WILL be offended and you must accept it as the freedom of other's speech.

Anything you want to argue about regarding The Snake Soup itself may be posted in it's designated forum as long as it isn't something like "N0s snakes rvenege doest suck u suck dik," though "Snake's Revenge was not that bad of a game" is acceptable.

Finally, since I pay for this site to be online and running, I do not have to abide to any of these rules. So should I do so, DO NOT bitch about it. Go buy your own webspace and install phpBB on it. Then get a copy of Photoshop or whatever and make your own layout. God damn.

#8 - NO DUPLICATE POSTS
If you have more to say to a topic and you were the last reply, EDIT your post instead of adding a new one. This helps conserve bandwidth that I pay for. Adding a new post, ESPECIALLY IF YOU POST A "BUMP" may result in your post being deleted and a warning will be issued to you.

If there are more than two posts next to each other that are identical, we will delete them (no punishment will be issued due to this happening often by accident).

#9 - I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU SAY HELLO, I SAY GOODBYE
If you are new to the forums, or have returned, or wish to leave a farewell message, ONLY POST in the HELLO, GOODBYE topic under SIT DOWN, RELAX, AND HATE. If you do not do this, you will obviously be issued a warning. Some of you may say that's no big deal to people already leaving - thus, said topic would be DELETED, so if you want to have a message that people can read, post it in that topic.

#10 - YOU'RE BORED? GO JACK OFF! ADDED 05/24/06
We don't give a fuck if you're bored. Do not post a topic or post about how you are bored. Go read a book. Go outside. Fuck, go to Wikipedia.org and look up something random and keep on reading articles. Do something useful.

#11 - IF YOU'RE SO SORRY, ACT IT, DON'T SAY IT! ADDED 05/26/06
If you have been issued a warning, DO NOT apologize! It's just a waste of everyone's time! You feel sorry? Then don't repeat your mistake again! You MAY dispute the warning within the topic if you can prove that you did not break any rules.

#12 - NO WORD GAMES ADDED 08/04/06
Do not start a word game, such as "Take the title of a song, any song, and add the words "during sex" to it" because as funny as it may seem to you, that's just really a loophole for Rule #10. Save your games for drunken nights and AIM conversations. YT?

#13 - NO ADVERTISING ADDED 03/21/07, EDITED 03/22/07
Go ahead and promote your online project(s) in your signature, avatar, and even posts when applicable. Do not make a new topic with a link just to direct everyone to your site. An example of an acceptable exception: If there is a topic about fried chicken and you have a website with a video of a man eating fried chicken, then feel free to post it, keeping check of RULE #3.

03/22/07 EDIT - The PM system may not be used for advertising purposes as well. We can check these if someone brings it to our attention, Mr. Smart ass.

#14 - PRIVACY LIKE WHOA ADDED 03/22/07
You are not allowed to post any personal information another board member without their permission. This means their real names, e-mail address, MySpace/personal web thing, picture, PM's, XXX live cam, etc.

#15 - ONE AND TWO ADDED 07/04/07
You must abide by rules one and two (1 & 2) of the internet.

#16 - FURY FRIDAYS ADDED 09/24/07, EDITED 09/28/07
Every Friday, you will be given a Fury Friday warning--which means you will be banned next Friday--for posts deemed "fucking stupid." This warning will be symbolized by an asterisk (*) on the CRIME AND PUNISHMENT topic. Can you handle it?

09/28/07 EDIT - Fury Friday warnings do not effect your warning count. You can only receive up to a maximum of one Fury Friday warning per Fury Friday.
