I haven't been this impressed by a gameplay demo since MGS2:SoL, brings me back some fond memories.

Gameplay looks great. Actually, it seems that Kojima's essentially doing what he wanted to do with MGS4, but couldn't.

Shouldn't FOXHOUND come into play at some point in these games? I don't remember, when was FOX disbanded?

Wait...so what the hell is MGS5 going to be then? And if this is just the beginning of a new set of games does it mean they are doing a Metal gear 1/2 remake?

That would be nice for one reason or another, but I'm pretty sure he neither likes revisiting games he has finished, nor would it be cost-effective.

But on a related note, aren't we supposed to be expecting an MGS1 remake at some point within this decade? The 25th anniversary would make sense for it.

So the kid is Chico... I'm guessing the references to whoever was being tortured is either Paz or Amanda. Most likely Paz given Snake is told to rescue both of them from that base.

Looks like the game will be smilar to Peace Walker. It's not 'open world' in the same vein as GTA, it's more like a whole bunch of various levels with huge expanse but very open level with sandbox elements. So I guess, tihnk GTA but with multiple cities except you don't seamlessly drive to all of them.

THem again, it could be takinga page from Assassin's Creed where you could literally ride your horse between cities in the first game. But I think it'll be more akin to Peace Walker given Kojima's commentary at the end of the 15 min piece.

I'm guessing there's a new gameplay mechanic... Climbing. So maybe partially like Assassin's Creed and Uncharted where you gotta climb stuff but without the stylish freerunning or the Uncharted like platforming.

I don't see the confusion with the XOF/FOX thing. It just seems to me like you're always viewing the regular good ol' FOX logo but in a mirror, or seeing the back of the patch, and sometimes don't vehicles have backwards lettering so you can tell the left from right or whatever? Like rearview stuff? So it's technically all FOX, but Kojima's cinematic direction is always showing it backwards for thematic purposes.

Anyway, HOLY SHIT THIS LOOKS AMAZING!!!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUJJJJIIIIIMAAAAAA!!!!

Where the hell can I download an HD version of this without signing up for IGN membership? Somebody must have it somewhere!!! Need to watch this on my PS3! With a controller in my hand and then pretend I'm playing it!!!

Just to clarify, FOX in the mirror isn't quite XOF, since the F would be backwards, which it isn't on those patches.

X and O look the same because they're symmetrical.

If it was intended to be FOX backwards, the F would've been reversed, since as per protocol with certain vehicles (i.e. an AMBULANCE) the text would be completely backwards for the purpose of being readable IN a mirror, so it's something else.

TBH it wouldn't make business sense to ever make a game called Metal Gear Solid 5 because no new players are gonna get into a series that's obviously in it's fifth iteration, that's why so many series are dropping numbered titles. Like, it's ok for something like GTA where the install base is already huge (basically everyone) but with MGS the install base is really small and the only way any new MGS games can be profitable is to attract new players.
