Fan of batman movies but I want to start reading the Batman Comics. Need help on starting? I'm a fan of the Batman movies & Animation but I can't be a real fan unless I read the comics. So I want start with the Graphic Novels then move on to the actual comic series. So what are the best graphic novels and which one should I start with. Then when it comes to the series. There have been so many changes I won't know which one to start with. So suggestions?

The obvious starting point would be the Killing Joke and Dark Knight Returns. After that I'd reccomend JOKER, Tower of Babel, No Man's Land (the rumored basis for the next ARKHAM game) and Batman & Deathblow. I also enjoy the Dark Knight Strikes Again and All Star Batman & Robin, but most people dislike those.

If you think about dipping into Superman, check out Lex Luthor: Man of Steel (my personal all-time favorite graphic novel), All Star Superman and Red Son.

Year One by Frank Miller is essential, read it before Long Halloween and Dark Victory, they follow each other in that order.

Year 100 by Paul Pope isn't in the same continuity, but it's still great. I'm sure there's a bunch of other shit that isn't coming to the top of my head right now.

srsly tho, I like anything from the Superman/Batman line of comics, as the two characters play off of each other amazingly well.

The basics have already been covered for the most part, I think, but here's a protip: don't worry about continuity so much unless one book directly references another. Unless the connections are blatant or obviously important, a continuous canon isn't really worth worrying about in comic books, especially not when you're starting with graphic novels from various creative teams and time periods.

Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth is pretty good to check out toward the start, also.

I have to definitely make sure to finish Knightfall by the time TDKR comes. I loved reading Long Halloween to psyche me up for TDK.
