Looking at how bad the SilentHill HD collection turned out im more or less happy with what we got. It sucks though, i was really looking forward to it since i never played any Silent Hill games except a demo of 2 (which scared me shitless as a child) |
I only e-mailed them regarding the Strut E issue, but the reply I got was different from this one, and another user posted the reply he got and it was different from the others too.
Regarding Silent Hill collection, yes, it is a pity (athough that HD collection being worse than this one doesn't fix the grey screen of death glitch).
If you checked the post dedicated to SH here at The Soup, then you have seen for yourself that the best way to play these games is geting a hold on the PC versions. I heard they're kind of rare, but these games were released for PC more than 8 years ago, so legally, they might have reached abandonware status already. I'm not sure about this myself, though.
The PS2 versions are really easy to find, though, and Silent Hill 2 and 3 are games worth being played.
April 4th edit:
Right now, I was prompted by the game to update it to the 1.01 version. So I did. Guess what, the glitch is still there. Not only that, but this patch is the very same the U.S. version got last year. What kind of joke is this?

Can't say I didn't expect as much.
I've lost all respect for Konami as a game developer.
Now they're just and empty shell bottom-feeding to make money while living in the name of their former glory.

Sorry, I though that it wasn't double posting when writting two different posts on the same topic, but with a timelapse of 11 days between them.
Next time I'll just edit my last post.
I'm guessing the warning can't be removed, right?
Regarding the topic, a user in the ps3trophies forum (a pretty naive one, if you ask me) told me to be patient, and he explained with a lot of detail that the process for a patch is long and hard (he said weeks), but it's been almost two months since they've known about the issue, and all we got was a patch that's almost the same the american version got, that solves some issues regarding peace walker (but I noticed that, unlike the american version, I can still return to the change game menu. It would have been even more aggravating that they released a patch that solves a couple of trivial things and takes features away in the process).
This patch doesn't solve the Strut E glitch. It does not solve the missing ropes or lice not showing up in cutscenes. Actually, all we know is that it solves something in Peace Walker. Take into account that the Peace Walker port wasn't programmed by Bluepoint to begin with.
Taking into account that there was a huge delay for this game to be released in Europe, the 1.01 patch should have been included with the game on the first place!
I mean, this is insulting. I assume that, if they released a patch in the US, it was because there were certain issues with the game. If this patch wasn't included in the EU version, they released the collection in Europe knowing that there were issues that needed a patch (not taking into account the particular isues that we have ourselves), and they had five months to include it! A patch that had already been done, and they release it now, over two months after release date in Europe.
Silent Hill collection was a disaster and they got a patch on day zero (it solved nothing, but a patch was released anyway). I don't think solving a single problem on our collection is such a lengthy process. Specially seeing how they could've included the 1.01 patch on the disk from the get go. Even if they had sent the game to print and that wasn't possible, they could have started that supposedly hard paperwork process to get Sony's aproval to release a patch.
I mean, the poor guys at customer service can only say what they did, that they know about the issue and that they reported about it, but they are neither the ones programming the patches, nor the ones deciding if those patches should be done on the first place.
I'm just taking a wild guess here, but taking into account that, unlike the Silent Hill collection case, none of the issues were reported on press reviews (and I'm talking about european press), those said reviews were quite possitive, and the game has been already sold, I don't think they are in a hurry to solve it. I'm not saying they won't (, maybe next year, ha!), I'm saying that it's not a priority for them since potential new buyers don't know about the issue, so, unlike Silent Hill collection, the image of the product is still undamaged.

If everyone could play the HD Collection, like these two fellows did... Everything would be fine. But we cannot, so it makes this very sad. |
This should be added as an extra audio commentary in the next MGS buy-the-games-again edition!
On a sidenote, some guy at PS3trophies stated that he got a reply from Konami, adnowledging that a patch was finally on the works. So, who knows?

Which version to buy? |
|
Okay, I am confused about which version(American or European) to buy. I couldn't find any thread listing differences between version, so am posting here. I'll play it on a HD display. Are there any extras in the European version(suspecting this because it was delayed)?

And now they're gone again. So this is still just random and has not been fixed.
