I think it switched back in MGS4, because I remember using that stuff during the Crying Wolf battle and thinking "why did they change it from Pentazemin?" I forgot that it was its original name in MGS1...

Actually, some asholes here in Spain demanded that the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs recalled the game because it induced minors to consume drugs. As it was advertising a drug to minors. (WTF!?)
The government stated that it would not do so, as it is stated in the box that the game is suited for ages 18 and above. It was a polite way to say "shut the fuck up"
Then again, Catalonian office of Health demanded one year later based on the same argument, the government stated the very same thing it had said before.
A spaniard journalist wrote an article about the issue, entitled "Metal Gear and the ditatorship of virtue", stating that it was utterly ridicoulous that, in a game with a sole guy that takes out like 75 people all by himself, that has taken down a fucking tank, that's after a giant nukes carrying robot named like a dinosaur, that has faced a gunslinger out of a western movie and a S&M floating, mind reading, anorexic guy, the only realistic, real world detail in the game had become subject of debate amongst people who hadn't even played it. He also stated that the game's intentions were clearly the opposite, and he brought up the clear anti-tobacco message in the game.
Given that there are so many asholes complaining about bullshit they don't even know, I can understand Konami playing it safe and using a fictional drug.
