"Gritty and violent" Rising trailer at VGA is 3 minutes long

Now that the Official PlayStation Magazine UK issue with the Hideo Kojima cover story is out with little information on Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Geoff Keighley is left to hype the fuck out of what is a new trailer that will debut live on Spike TV's Video Game Awards on the 10th this month. In a video posted on Spike TV's website, Keighley calls the new three minute Rising trailer "pretty gritty and violent" and "real badass." Doesn't sound like much has changed since E3 2009, eh?

From the way Keighley and Spike TV have been promoting this trailer and Hideo Kojima's live appearance though, it almost seems as if Kojima Productions changed the name of the game from Metal Gear Solid: Rising to The Truth About Metal Gear Solid: Rising. While the skeptic in me disregards this as typical PR, Keighley more or less told me to shut the fuck up and sit the fuck back down.

"Some people are wondering why are we saying "The Truth About Metal Gear Solid: Rising?" Why aren't we just saying a world premiere of Metal Gear Solid: Rising? Well, that's deliberate because there's some breaking news about what's going on with this game. [...] Well at the VGAs Hideo Kojima is gonna be live on stage he's gonna tell you what's happening with the game, which I think may surprise some people."

Unless Kojima cancels the game, makes non-cyborg Raiden playable for a good portion of the game, announces a series reboot, makes it a game about Snatcher instead of Metal Gear, makes it an iOS exclusive, or quits Twitter, I am not sure if I will be surprised. I'm expecting Rising to be available on the PlayStation Vita with Transfarring enabled for the PlayStation 3 version. I'm expecting a mild introduction to Producer Kore-P who has replaced Shigenobu Matsuyama. I'm expecting watermelons and lightning. But I wouldn't mind be surprised.

I think the breaking news will be, that it will be a transfarring game with a PS Vita version and maybe, that you will have at least one chapter as MGS2's classic non-cyborg raiden.

It may also be possible to be a reboot of the series, as there won't likely be any more titles with Solid Snake as protagonist.

I'm not the fan of a "gritty" and especially not a fan of a "violent"game trailer for MGS Rising, as I don't like to play a violent killer, that's supposed to be a hero. I liked the idea more to play a cool stealthy ninja, who can knock out oponents (not killing them) and aim for their weapons, not for lethal parts...

He's going to announce that the whole game is a VR simulation. But when the game itself comes out, you play as Solid Snake after the first chapter, and there are strong hints that it actually takes place in reality.

Edit: I still see a 9,0% chance of the game being cancelled.
Or the game gets a name change, or Platinum Games takes over.

Yeah, the "surprise" bit is bollocks. We know it, he knows, Twittery Kojima knows it. But, just so I remember what I'm in this for, it's a three-minute-trailer of a title that carries the MGS name. It's something to look forward to, even if it's a spin-off made to appeal to the masses.

Only way I am gonna be suprised here is if they decided to make it card/turn based and retitled it Metal Gear Ac!d 3...and that would be a pleasant suprise.

Here's what I'm thinking.

Geoff is going to be the one talking the most about the game. He'll say shit like "did you see any news or information about Rising this year? No? That's why. Just like his former partner Solid Snake, news about Rising hasn't been seen. It's been hiding in stealth all this time. People knew of it, of course but it wasn't seen. That's how much stealth will be in this game!"

Kojima will come out, bow or some shit. Say in engrish "here is the new trailer....for Metuh Gear Sorrid: Rising!"

Show cutting people the same like watermelon and shit.

Then the last part of the trailer will be the big surprise......

KINECT AND MOVE SUPPORT.
