I set up a VigLink account but didn't really see anything actually happen until recently. So seeing as how I am getting at least a few dollars after a few months, I think it's only right to let everyone know what's up, how it affects them, how it affects me and how they can opt out.
VigLink automatically changes all links made within this site to check to see if I can score a referral fee. VigLink gets some while i get the rest. This allows me to make some money without dealing with advertisements.
Does it change how I link? No, not really. In fact, the links that actually generated revenue were not posted by me... meaning that they were simply links added to a forum post. I will always only link to shit I find relevant to whatever point it is I am making.
Does it fuck with you? Financially, no, it will not. Technically, it could if your browser or ISP can't handle this sort of shit. If this is the case, or for some other reason you want to do this anyways, you can opt-out of VigLink by disabling it here.
