No seriously, sounds interesting if true!

I don't think that this could be considered a new generation.

I think we can expect a new console generation in the next 4 years. |
I phrased that wrong. I meant that it's still too early to tell, and that it wouldn't happen soon. If Nintendo's next console is immensely superior to the PS3 and X360, then yes, we would see a new "generation" in 4 to 5 years.

My sentiments exactly. I just got my PS3 in 2008. And now a new console is coming soon? Soon, as in, a year or two? Damn, time moves too fucking fast.
But this does remind me of how the creator of Crysis said something about new generation game consoles coming at around 2013. I'd fetch the link but it's all on my new computer, which has been taken in to Geek Squad for repairs due to a rogue anti-virus.....so you'll have to take my word for it here.
Nonetheless I feel it's so soon already. The PS3 was supposed to last ten years, wasn't it? Perhaps the same could be said of the Xbox 360 and Wii? It's not even 2016 yet.

I don't think that the PS3 was supposed to last ten years. What are you basing that on? Technology is progressing much faster now than it was when the last generation of consoles were around.

Some more rumored details here, precisely concerning the controller.
http://www.destructoid.com/more-nintendo-console-rumors-about-hardware-touch-screen-198922.phtml
The timing seems inline with what we'd expect. Nintendo's console is the only one seeing declines and was built with a 5 year cycle unlike Sony's PS3 which was made for 10.
Microsoft also built theirs to last for 5, but since Sony has been all, "Look man, we're ten years old!" Then Microsoft was like, "Oh... oh yeah? Well... S-so am I! Look! I've grown another GB on my DVD!!!"
Wii 2 in 2012 is 5 years after Wii's launch in 2006.
Microsoft could bowl over and release new hardware in 2013. They not going to like not being first... but at least they'll beat Sony, yeah, that's it!
Sony would likely stick it out being the most future proofed and all and release in 2014-early 2015. 8-9 years in, so PS3 will be supported for 10 years.
Nintendo releases first, hardware looks good, better than what's currently on the market. Microsoft releases with marginally better hardware a year later. Sony shows up with the biggest dong of the hardware arms race much later to be the most superioriest and the one ring to rule them all offering everything its competitors have and more.
Kojima releases a new MGS on PS4.
So all according to keikaku...

When people put the Dreamcast in the same generation as the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation, they are wrong. The Xbox 360 is not a part of the same generation as the PlayStation 2 and GameCube.
With that said, six years is not that big of a deal though it is annoying with two attractive handhelds being released very soon. If you release your next generation console first and are able to keep it afloat, you have a better chance at winning.

So skyward sword delay incoming...?
Some more details:
- Dual analog sticks on the controller. Can stream game content from the console. Not sure if it'll be full games, mini-games, or apps.
- New Nintendo controller allows players to stream entire games to the device from the console - like a miniature television

Meanwhile, somewhere...
