I assume Rand was a follower of the Austrian school of economics, even though it's never directly been stated. Seems like it'd fit her fairly well.

Not really. She was definitely far more friendlier with Austrians than most "libertarian" groups.

Ah, I see. I heard that Mises actually wrote letters to Rand. I'd be immensely interested to read their correspondence.

They got along well. She got along with Rothbard for a while but then the two split resulting in him writing Mozart Was A Red. She hated Hayek because of his philosophy.

Oh what the fuck is this!? Hockey acting, action movie directing, generic soundtrack. This looks terribly lame.

Parts of it made me think it was a fan-film.

Nope. It's real.

But who's distributing it?

Also, who else is not expecting a Part 2 to be made?

Big budget film adaptations of highly beloved and easily read children novels is a bit different. Hell, you can even change just a few of those variables and find yourself with Eragon.

I don't think many people could sit through Atlas Shrugged. Alot would need to end up on the cutting room floor, because I don't think I can stand the characters making the same done to death points over, and over, and over again.

I really got annoyed about the one-sidedness of the book. Especially when Dagny tells a guy who wanted to treat his workers fairly by 'not making a profit' that he's the worst thing in the world. It reeks of satire, but I'm not quiet sure sometimes.

I guess I get a little annoyed because I think Laissez-faire is very naive. I'm not saying socialism is good either, but I think society operates best when there's a mix of both.

The problem with mixed economies is that it generally leads to protectionism and favoritism of big business and big union. So there's an illusion of a free market with a safety net, when in reality it's just a scheme to guarantee votes which in turn allow policy makers to reap the fruits of everyone's work. Essentially, economic policies are made by the government to benefit one group over another either, usually for short term gains. The long-term consequences, unintended or not, are often completely overlooked.
