Did you ever get out of that fucking dungeon?

What does everybody think about the weapon modding system in New Vegas? I think it sounds promising. I hear it's supposed to change the weapon model as well as the stats.

Irritated by what she sees as the Brotherhood’s unrealistic and uninformed views of themselves and the world, Veronica is a perpetual outsider caught between her loyalty to the Brotherhood and troubling doubts about the validity of their current course.

* Description: Unlike standard eyebots, ED-E is a highly customized “duraframe” model with hardened armor and specialized weapons. It was an eyebot on an incredible journey, carrying an enormous amount of valuable data when it was badly damaged and taken in by a Primm shop owner. Though ED-E still retains all of its data and an understanding of its mission, its internal positioning hardware is badly damaged. The only reason it has not been seized by interested parties is because ED-E has not communicated its special mission to anyone. (note by Ronok: He was first seen in the New Vegas trailer 2, where we see how he was damaged)

* Profession: Sidekick to The King
* Perk: Search and Mark – While Rex is a companion, unequipped chems, firearms, and ammunition within a short distance are highlighted when you zoom the camera.
* Description: Rex is a cybernetic dog that has been around since pre-war times. He was used by the Denver Police Department and Caesar’s Legion before being mostly blown up during the Battle of Hoover Dam. Since then, he’s been the loyal pet of The King of The Kings in Freeside. Capable of sniffing out loot and taking a large amount of punishment, he only has one (big) problem: his brain is starting to deteriorate.


The companion I'm most excited for is Rex. ROBODOG is awesome. I knew they'd have to have a dog in there, but a cybernetically enhanced dog? That's badass. Oh, and I love how each companion gives you Perks. Fucking sick. The one question on my mind is, where are the bad guys? None of these companions necessarily seem like characters you'd bring around when playing as a villain. They all seem to have Good Karma. What's up with that? Can we expect more companions later, some for the side of evil?

It's good to see that Bethesda is starting to take companions seriously. These look like some damn good ones. I was hoping for something really off the wall like one of the intelligent death claws from Fallout 2 or maybe a super badass radroach, but what else is DLC for? This perk system looks good to. Now I'm praying that they bring back the importance of charisma.

I'm glad to see alot more Fallout 1 and 2 references such as The Followers of The Apocalypse and Nightkins. Good to know the companions are as useful as they were in Fallout 2.

What else would you expect? You're back on the west coast. It wouldn't have made sense to have those things in the Capital Wasteland.
You are right though. I'm looking forward to getting to grips with the original plot elements from the first two games. I never got to play them. I'm not looking forward to dealing with the douchbag western Brotherhood of Steel though. Those guys are complete and utter... well... douchbags.

Uh, well there's Super Mutants on the East coast and other remnants of the Master's army and Jet, even though the maker of Jet died (and the drug with him) in the Fallout 2 epilogue. So, I don't see why there wouldn't be any Nightkins or The Followers of The Apocalypse around. Shit, there's even a character from Fallout 3 that's from Ireland.

The Supes in FO3 are pretty different though. They looked more degenerated and fucked up and they lacked the intelligence of their West Coast brethren. They also weren't made by the Master, but rather, the pre-war American government through the Vault experiments.

As for Jet, it was probably brought over by the BoS when they caravaned from the West.

Moriarty though... Well, maybe it's not too hard to get across the Atlantic. Alistair Tenpenny is also a UK emigrant.


You know, that makes me think. I've always wanted to see what happened to other parts of the world after the Great War. We get little hints every so often, but nothing major. We'd never go there in a game though. That'd take away from Fallout's big aesthetic of post-war America.

But, you know, there are always novels.
