That's my problem with playing it. It wants to be a tabletop RPG. But it can't be. It's a video game. If it wanted to accomplish Dungeons and Dragons style, it should have done it the way Dragon Age: Origins did.

Well I really can't make any say on this because I haven't played Morrowind enough to tell. But I assume you're wrong just based on the technological advances since Morrowind allowing for more possibilities, and that you're just fanboying. Which is fine, I do it too. |
| Keep it Classy wrote: | | Holy shit no, you can't kill everybody in Fallout 3, you can't skill alchemistry to make a intelligence pot and boost your intelligence to no end with repeating it and then boosting other stats (this is not cheating, it's game exploiting) to become a god. |
The reason you can't do that in Fallout 3 is probably because there is no Alchemy skill. And have you ever heard of the stackable enchantments from Oblivion?
That's totally cheating, bro.
| Keep it Classy wrote: | | You can actually kill gods in Morrowind. |
What? Who? Besides, you ever heard of Jyggalag and Mehrunes Dagon?
| Keep it Classy wrote: | | You can kill people who you needed to finish the main quest and then make it impossible to finish the game. |
If you think that's a plus, then yeah. It might make the game more open, but you also run the risk of losing quest givers you didn't want to lose.
| Keep it Classy wrote: | | You can fly around. |
You can't ride a horse, though.
| Keep it Classy wrote: | | You can finish the game in five minutes. |
Not unique to Morrowind, I'm afraid. You can do the same thing in Oblivion and Fallout 3 as well.
| Keep it Classy wrote: | | Really, no fanboyism. |
Yes, yes it is.
| Keep it Classy wrote: | | The game really is much more open than Fallout 3 and Oblivion. |
In some respects maybe, but overall... no, no it's not.
| Keep it Classy wrote: | | This is pretty much the definition of hype. People get their hopes like crazy. |
hype: 1. Promotion or advertisement; especially with exagerated claims.

That was only an example of it.

That's alchemistry, it's part of the game.
| Quote: | | What? Who? Besides, you ever heard of Jyggalag and Mehrunes Dagon? |
Vivec and Almalexia, also Mehrunes Dagon is not a god.

Stop right there, the point of this was not to prove that Morrowind is the better game, I said it is more open.
And the moment you kill someone you needed the game tells you that you did.
| Quote: | | You can't ride a horse, though. |
Yeah, the game would have needed a redesign to make horses useful.

I actually doubt that, can you get the GEEK from beginning on and then make it into the memorial without dying at such a low level?
And in Oblivion? How.
It's not, I'm stating facts.
Again: I am not doing this to say that Morrowind is oh so awesome and Fallout 3 sucks dick.

How so?

I thought "hype" also means overestimating a game that is going to be released soon.

The fuck is "alchemistry"!?
| Quote: | | Quote: | | What? Who? Besides, you ever heard of Jyggalag and Mehrunes Dagon? |
Vivec and Almalexia, also Mehrunes Dagon is not a god. |
Actually, by most standards, yes he is. He isn't CALLED a "god", but then neither are the Nine really. And if your gonna claim Dagon isn't a god, then neither is Vivec or Alamexia.

Hype, for the consumer, is just being interested in a game. Hype for the developer is saying "shit will be good". You can't "overestimate" a game that hasn't come out though.
Hahaha, I think it's funny how often Abel gets owned around here. Oh, but he is a trooper ain't he?

Sorry I didn't play enough Oblivion to know that they called Mehrunes a god, in Morrowind Vivec and Almalexia are called gods aswell, not only by the NPC's but also books referr to them as "gods".

Oh come on why have I been owned now.
Of course you can overestimate a game.

The Daedra and the Eight are cut from the same stock, but whereas the Eight are generally seen as forces of good and are benefactors of sentient life, the Daedra are more distant and uninvolved, or in the House of Troubles case, just plain malicious.

But that opinion isn't entirely valid as one can't actually formulate an objective view on it as it's not been witnessed. For example, I believe M. Night Shyamalan's latest film "Devil" will be total shit based on his previous work as of late as well as the trailer. But this is only a subjective view, and can't be taken with much salt until I see the movie.

In truth, there are no conventional gods in the Elder Scrolls series. There are the Aedra, whom are believed to be the creaters of Nurn, but there is very little to confirm it, even in the game's literature. There are the Daedra, who can be said to quantifiably exist, but they do not behave like gods, more like spirits or demons. And then there are the Tribunal (the name for the dunmerri panthion) who are considered gods by Dark Elves, but are actually ordinary elves who were imbewed with power from the heart of Lorkin. I'm sure there more examples too, but I can't think of them. Sorry to cut short, I wanted to say more, but I've got swords to check out!!!

There are differing views and beliefs within the world and between the factions. If a reality like we see in The Elder Scrolls series existed, it'd be like that. It allows for you to make your own choices, your own beliefs and your own rules in the role you play.

I love the Elder Scrolls role, it feels so authentic.
Anyways, I always used to consider Aedra = gods and Daedra = demons.

That's the TL;DR version. It gets pretty crazy though the deeper you go until you might even start to sympathize with the Princes.
