I know the feeling too, sort of. I had to get rid of all the females in my Trade Waiting Room because I ultimately couldn't find anyone who wanted to accept a trade. At least the food production is up a little over 375%, and I don't have to listen to Kaz bitching about how MSF is overflowing with new recruits during vehicle missions.
There is at least one character I won't get rid of; her name is Capybara, a grade-A nutritionist, and her comment is "Oh... Boss...". 
Of course, now, the thing is that now that MSF is now called "Outer Heaven" (after beating the game again), I take on a persona that MSF has evolved to the point of "corruption", where I can kick people out because I feel like it (especially if I find better-graded personnel).

Night Vision could exist, but I didn't know that they could have dual-functionality like that! Enhanced lighting and thermal!? I didn't even think we in 2010 had that kinda tech! |
I looked at it as a gameplay concession. Night vision goggles became kind of redundant if you also had thermal goggles in the other games. Having just one item also cuts down on having to bring two types of goggles. |
