Subject description: Love in the time of darwinism

Found this article, figured it should be mandatory reading

http://www.city-journal.org/2008/18_4_darwinist_dating.html

Here are some random paragraphs:

"Here’s Jeff from Middleburg, Florida: “I am not going to hitch my wagon to a woman . . . who is more into her abs, thighs, triceps, and plastic surgery. A woman who seems to have forgotten that she did graduate high school and that it’s time to act accordingly.” Jeff, meet another of my respondents, Alex: “Maybe we turn to video games not because we are trying to run away from the responsibilities of a ‘grown-up life’ but because they are a better companion than some disease-ridden bar tramp who is only after money and a free ride.” Care for one more? This is from Dean in California: “Men are finally waking up to the ever-present fact that traditional marriage, or a committed relationship, with its accompanying socially imposed requirements of being wallets with legs for women, is an empty and meaningless drudgery.” You can find the same themes posted throughout websites like AmericanWomenSuck, NoMarriage, MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way), and Eternal Bachelor (“Give modern women the husband they deserve. None”)."

---

"But then, when an SYM walks into a bar and sees an attractive woman, it turns out to be nothing like that. The woman may be hoping for a hookup, but she may also be looking for a husband, a co-parent, a sperm donor, a relationship, a threesome, or a temporary place to live. She may want one thing in November and another by Christmas. “I’ve gone through phases in my life where I bounce between serial monogamy, Very Serious Relationships and extremely casual sex,” writes Megan Carpentier on Jezebel, a popular website for young women. “I’ve slept next to guys on the first date, had sex on the first date, allowed no more than a cheek kiss, dispensed with the date-concept altogether after kissing the guy on the way to his car, fucked a couple of close friends and, more rarely, slept with a guy I didn’t care if I ever saw again.” Okay, wonders the ordinary guy with only middling psychic powers, which is it tonight?"

---

"Darwinist dating may explain the litany of stories you hear from women about the troglodytes in their midst. “We can be slovenly from the start,” one interview subject told Amy Cohen in her dating column for the New York Observer, “because we can get laid anytime we want.” Remember those women who want a guy who will open the car door for them? They may be lucky if they find one willing to add “please” to “Pass the ketchup.” Women complain that instead of calling to ask them out, or even make plans for a date, men simply text, “Heading downtown. Where r u?” as they walk to the subway. That may be deliberate. “There is no longer any reason to answer the phone when a woman calls you or return her call when she leaves you a message,” insists one dating pro at World of Seduction. “What should you do? Text message, of course.” Text messages, he argues, deflect unnecessary personal involvement and keep women on edge. Game goes even further, actually encouraging men to “neg” their “target” women—that is, to undermine their confidence subtly by ignoring or mildly insulting them. The hotter the woman, the more essential it is to neg her."

---

There's a lot more good stuff in there, too. We all know this is how things are today, but what do you think of it?

Personally, I was on the fast track to being one of these cocky assholes who women wanted just before I went into high school, and it comes quite naturally to me still, but thanks to being converted to Christianity I refuse to have or chase after sex, and therefore I'm out of luck, and for now at least, I accept that.

What's your experience?

I too have converted...to being and staying single...at least until Im older, I no longer take anything Im in serious...Im too young, I have alot to accomplish before even thinking to settle in to something long term...not only that, Im not about the sex either..so thats a big turn off for guys once they find out Im not about the sex. I want to save that part of me for someone special...I havent met anyone that special.

Single is better for someone like me... I get to go out, Im treated well by males who enjoy my company..(I pay my own way)...and there is no bs that usually comes with relationships... I have a great gut feeling..or say intuition of the guys Ive dated..however in the past, I wanted to give them a fair chance...but all want the same thing...the thing Im not about...so like you Wolpox, I too refuse to have or chase after sex..well, I never had to chase after it...I spend more time saying 'no'...but I dont see myself as 'shit out of luck'... I see myself as not yet meeting the one who I will share that with...and like you said to me before in one of our conversations...there are levels...my ex should go and find his...I am not his level. Smile Not saying its good or bad...its just that we were too different,..

Im fine single, sure its nice to have a love in your life..but Ive not ever had an honest one...As kids my age will seem to think that something is so real...I know better..maybe that is where my issue is... People my age grow and change so much... I doubt very much in something so long lasting that it will last till there is 'together forever'... Ill look around for a forever when Im over 23...
...and hes over 25.

I still hope to find "my someone." That being said, a while back I had my heart crushed to powder, and it was not fun by any means. I honestly felt like someone had stabbed me in the chest with a knife and twisted the thing.

Wolfpox: you're a Christian?

I'm even more confused now. So, you enjoy being rejected, and then struggling to quickly recover by having a new relationship?

To be honest, I don't have much experience dating. I usually never got that far, not being much of a "ladies' man" and all. I would be interested in a girl, get strung along, then end up the butt of a joke or some other BS like that.

This last time I had feelings for someone, I was actually going to ask her out. That crashed and burned horribly.

I have a question about dating.

Is it better to really get to know someone for weeks or months before you date them, or
Is it better to know them for just a few weeks, feel something and then date and get to know eachother as you go along?

Its all confusing to me now! I guess because from 11 to16 I was just about one guy, and the others were nothing so serious and I knew they had no potential to last... It feels like Im back out there and lol, at 17, well closer to the legal age now..lol, Im doing it all WRONG!

So, some advise? thanks.

I'm noone to talk about dating, but it looks to me like you can fall in love with anyone, given they are attractive/have a nice enough personality.
Although I see no point in love at all, if it even exists.

Both work, whatever makes you feel more comfortable I suppose.

Personally I prefer the second. Thats what dating is for, getting to know one another and seeing if there will be a click.
