Well, in all truth, it could turn out that the kid in the mask might be just misdirection. We're all supposed to think it's obviously Mantis, then it turns out it's Joe Shmoe the gas mask kid, who can fly and pass through ceilings because of nanomachines.
Just how old was Mantis supposed to be in Metal Gear Solid anyway? Wasn't he some psychic who worked for the Soviets or something? I just got this feeling that he would have been older than this.

The Official Mission Handbook said he was in his 30s during the Shadow Moses Incident, 21 years after The Phantom Pain takes place.
While the OMH may not be 100% canonical, I don't see why that tidbit of information can't be canon. The games don't specify an exact age for Mantis.
