RE: You Can Be Excited for Metal Gear Survive If You Want To
I always thought this might be a decent multiplayer experience. MGSV has a really fun base gameplay that compliments both stealth and action gameplay. Though thinking of Metal Gear and online features makes me remember all those times when that combination didn't work.

I don't say Survive will ever be anything revolutionary (which is something every other Metal Gear game was in some small way) but rather a brainless (haha!) coop action that I wished was included in TPP.

I don't get the absolute hate Survive gets. I understand people don't buy it because Konami is an_fAGgit and that it's basically just L4Dead in MGSV's engine but that it isn't a Metal Gear? Rising turned out to be an ok(?) game with a retard story and people have no problem including it in the canon?

Enjoy your MB Coin Microtransaction hell ladies!

People are gonna be raiding your base while you at work or asleep and there's nothing you can do!

But Konami will fix that with Zombie Mother Base Insurance!

I'm still with the opinion that I don't want to support any more non-Kojima Metal Gear, but I'm not boycotting Konami outright. For example, what if there was some awesome new Castlevania or something that came out that was totally revolutionary while also staying true to its roots and all that? I wouldn't see any reason to refuse to buy it. Survive really looks like it's just totally intellectually bankrupt though. It's like "Uh.... We need to make a new Metal Gear fast, to show everyone we can do it. What should we do? I know! Zombies! There you go!"

Metal Gear's been intellectually bankrupt for nearly two decades and four main entries now, so what difference does it make?

If anything I hope they'd be smart enough not to include the fucking base development thing. Building bases you never visit for characters you don't give a fuck about.

I'd rather use MB coins for a fucking digital hat.

FOB multiplayer might not be bad but I played it once and couldn't be less interested. So I built one strut FOB so I could send one more deployment team at a time.

On an unrelated note, if I ever hear a character in a video game say "that's outside of the mission area" I'm going to haidara their testicles and stomp 'em.

They ought' just do the realistic thing and instead of warn the player that they're outside the AOR, you just get hit by your own artillery when you cross the line. That'd be funnier, especially if it counted as a suicide and you lost points or whatever.

I just got Star Wars Battlefront (201X version, because this shit of a piece was around 5€ in PS Store) and even that game has this stupid fanfare shit when you go one step too far on a snowy battle arena. Fucking Star Wars of all things is telling you "ey, u can't goe their! u betr stay on this 100x100 metre area or u ded"

I'd sooner have invisible walls (or energy walls from Spyro the Dragon) rather than have game literately nagging me where I can and can't go!

It's not enough when they tell you to get back to the mission area, and super long tutorials that take hours aren't enough either, I need a lot more when I play a game. How else am I supposed to know what to do? The next innovation needs to be a voice talking to you constantly, saying stuff like "Hey, there's ammo over there" or "There are guys shooting at you right now", and I'm not just talking about at the beginning of the game, I mean through the whole game, like when someone's watching you play a game and they point out every single thing they see on the screen, because they assume you're a moron.

Speaking of, am I the only one who turns off Donnaburkedroid and headshot notifications in this game? Over half of the gameplay videos I've seen have those turned on and it's annoying as fuck. I mean why the fuck do I nead to know how many hits I've taken if my health regenerates back?!

Yeah, but you don't have to blast air horns and be all patronizing about that! Even the previous games used steep cliffs and actual walls to border the play area. If I want to explore or hide this certain thing outside mission area who are you to tell me what to do, Kaz? I'm Big Fucking Boss, I do what I big fucking please.

Another example from Battlefield: Battlefront. In this one survival map There's 2 giant bridges AT-STs keep poping up from. It'd be cool to place mines threre or explore this area across the bridge, but nope. Admiral Ackbar blows his nextgen mission boundary horns to let you know that there is absolutely no adventuring beyond this point or I'll have to fade you into black.

RE: You Can Be Excited for Metal Gear Survive If You Want To
Well this was the first open-world title and considering technological constraints of either hardware or the FOX engine, they had to limit the mission area.

It's just one of those things...

If those leaks were true, then last-gen constrained what MGSV could hold in memory necessitating long spaces of area with nothing in between until you reached a more denser location and these all had to be separated.

This could also be an issue with FOX Engine or Kojima's scale of the game's design or graphics considering that titles like GTA could allow a larger degree of free roam, but this also had missions being lost and reset.
