RISING: Steven Armstrong 2020

Posted on May 11, 2012 07:27 pm

There has been an interesting development with the is-it-viral-yet "Make It Right" campaign for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Yeah, the new official Rising site has videos and hidden shit but none of it makes any sense.

I will say that a few days ago I was in class, zoning out as usual. What can I say, I have senioritus. Actually that's bullshit, I'm always like that in class. Anyways I noticed this poster on the bulletin board. Something about a Senator Armstrong from Colorado who wants to keep War Off Our Shores. Except it was blacked out to say War On Our Shores and WAR MONGER across what seems to be a portrait of some guy. I was a little weirded out and looked up Armstrong on Wikipedia to find nothing. Last night, someone pointed this out to me:

Interesting. A bit much (for a conversation, where the fuck are the pauses?) and honestly the reason why I was looking forward to Metal Gear Rising; Revengeance is because it didn't seem like it was taking itself seriously at all. Maybe they still aren't. But this is interesting because it tackles a lot of political and economic issues which I could go into but I'm sure most of you don't give a shit.

By the way, this part of the campaign, unlike the others, seems to have a lot of positive feedback. Why? Is it the lack of cheesy live action segments? The lack of overly enigmatic shit? Themes that are actually very relevant to most of the Metal Gear series? Name dropping "Sons of Liberty"?

I ended up taking shots of that poster while on campus today. Some things to note. That looks like the Obama campaign logo. Armstrong looks like the guy who looks like Vamp, except in glasses, right? Will Revengeance take place in the year 2020, or afterwards? Finally, and this has more to do with the audio clip, is Armstrong referring to the original 2008 Tea Party led by Ron Paul, which is pro civil rights and economic liberty? Or the 2010 Tea Party, which was just mad that their guy wasn't in office? They often clash, especially on the issue of war.

Wait a god damn minute. Am I taking this plot too seriously? For fuck's sake, PlatinumGames rewrote the script in two months.
