METAL GEAR
One of the first stealth games, Metal Gear throws Solid Snake into a nuclear-armed
military nation with a pack of cigs and an unhelpful ass on the radio. Players
who were expecting Bill Rizer were knocked the fuck down should they be noticed
in their futile attempt to have a noisy welcoming.
In it's success Konami demanded that the game, which was designed by Hideo Kojima
for the MSX2 computer system, be ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The result? Hilarity. The game was remade with brighter and more ridiculous
colors, a jungle, three guys in parachutes who are never to be seen again, a
giant malfunctioning Windows 95 computer, among other things.
For some reason it the beast of a remake was ported to PC with it's own brilliant
features. Such features are so brilliant that it's basically unplayable now.
Metal Gear has been re-released to mobile phones as well as the PlayStation
2 as part of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. The brilliant NES remake also
was re-released as part of the Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Premium package
in Japan despite Hideo Kojima calling it "complete garbage" because he didn't
rike it.
