BIOGRAPHY

Solid Snake is among the clones of Big Boss from the Les Enfant Terribles project; the others being Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake, and quite possibly others as well, though none are currently known. He was created to give Liquid Snake the dominant genes, but Liquid was told vice versa. Snake wasn't told of the Les Enfant Terribles project at all until 2005. At an early age, the U.S. Government trained Snake to be a soldier. With an IQ of over 160, Snake learned to speak fluently in six languages, skydive, scuba-dive, and all sorts of stuff people like you fucking wish they could do.

CONFLICT WITH BIG BOSS

Dr. Pettrovich Madnar tells Snake how to destroy Metal Gear TX-55. One could say that he is dancing in this picture.
Solid Snake joins FOX-HOUND in the early 90's and is trained there by super-asshole-but-for-a-reason Master "Hell" Miller, eventually getting the "Snake" rank which is second best to "Fox" in FOX-HOUND. Snake meets and befriends Gray Fox, the only member of FOX-HOUND to ever get the Fox rank. Big Boss, commander of FOX-HOUND at the time, considers Snake a rookie and doesn't care much for him. In 1995, Gray Fox is sent to infiltrate and gather information in the military nation Outer Heaven during Operation Intrude: N312. Gray Fox is captured and his last transmission states something about a "Metal Gear," which is a walking nuclear tank. With everyone freaking out, Big Boss orders Solid Snake to go in, find Fox and finish his mission. Thus begins Operation Intrude N313. Snake seems suspicious of his deployment, but he goes in anyways, defeats the mercenaries and obstacles in his way, saves Gray Fox in addition to other hostages, and find the leader of Outer Heaven - Big Boss! Yes, Big Boss, one of the best soldiers in the world, commander of FOX-HOUND and the man who was giving Snake support on the transmitter, was the leader of Outer Heaven all along! Snake thought this made sense as to why Big Boss sent in him in despite being a rookie. Obviously, Snake was underestimated, and is now not a rookie anymore. He destroys Metal Gear TX-55 with help from it's creator-in-hostage Dr. Pettrovich and defeats Big Boss in battle. When Big Boss is seemingly defeated, Solid Snake makes a run for it because upon TX-55's destruction, Outer Heaven was set to self-destruct. Oddly enough, despite being hit with numerous rockets in the face, Big Boss manages to survive and escapes Outer Heaven, settling in the middle east.

Solid Snake fights Big Boss to death. Solid Snake demolishes Big Boss using a lighter and a can of spray.
After the mission, Solid Snake decides to retire and live in the Canadian mountains, but is brought back into action December 24, 1999, this time by Colonel Roy Campbell, FOX-HOUND's new leader after the Outer Heaven crisis. A military-country was being brought up in the middle east called Zanzibar Land, and they just kidnapped Czech scientist Dr. Kio Marv, along with his OILIX formula--which creates petroleum with little effort. Snake is told to infiltrate Zanzibar Land, find Dr. Kio Marv and recover his OILIX formula. Snake agrees and eventually learns that Big Boss survived and is the one behind Zanzibar Land. In addition, Snake finds out that Gray Fox, his old friend, followed his former commander and is now the head of it's army of mercenaries. Snake also discovered that Dr. Pettrovich, developer of Metal Gear TX-55, was "kidnapped" by the Zanzibar Land soldiers to build a new Metal Gear, Metal Gear D. Later on, it is revealed that Pettrovich was not kidnapped, but was hired to develop Metal Gear, and in addition, helped kidnap Kio Marv. Pettrovich was jealous of Kio Marv and actually kills him, which totally fucked up Snake's mission. Luckily, the OILIX formula is hidden in a MSX cartridge, which Snake snags. Snake battles Metal Gear D, piloted by Gray Fox, defeats it, and then battles Gray Fox in a mine field. Snake manages to knock Fox into a mine. They have one last conversation, and Fox dies. Snake then confronts Big Boss, who tells him a lot of things, such as the reasoning behind a military-country and how people like Snake were made for war. This made Snake really hate Big Boss and they had a dual, with Snake eventually killing Big Boss with nothing but a lighter and a can of aerosol spray. Snake escapes with Holly White, a CIA spy he met there, with a helicopter lift. It is assumed Snake banged White later on and probably took a shower.

RETIREMENT WITH HUSKIES

Snake leaves FOX-HOUND again, this time to a cabin in Twin Lakes, Alaska. After the Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land incidents, Snake suffers PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) which causes him to go nearly insane. To kill his time and try not to remember his past, Snake becomes a slow-dog racer, with his own huskies.  He also drinks a lot of booze. I doubt that helped much, but ok, that's chill.

THE SHADOW MOSES INCIDENT

Snake meets up with who he believes is DARPA Chief Donald Anderson. Snake likes to look cinematic while speaking.
Snake lives like this until 2005 when he is pulled back in action by Colonel Campbell... who was forced out of retirement as well. It appears that FOX-HOUND is going against their orders and, with the cooperation of the Genome Army, takes over Shadow Moses. After being strip searched and injected with nanomachines, Snake learns that Campbell is forced to cooperate as well, for his niece Meryl was sent in and was eventually captured along with ArmsTech President Kenneth Baker and DARPA Chief Donald Anderson. FOX-HOUND's demands are the remains of Big Boss. Snake--after coughing up a pack of cigarettes-- sneaks into Shadow Moses, meets up with old time buddy Master Miller via Codec, and finds out that Metal Gear REX is being housed there. The hostages he is supposed to rescue according to the mission plan, Anderson and Baker, dies in front of Snake from what appears to be a heart attack. This, in reality, is FoxDie which Snake was injected with along with the nanomachines. Snake meets Meryl and she helps Snake go to where Hal Emmerich, the developer of Metal Gear REX, is located. He meets a Cyborg Ninja, with whom he has a battle with. Snake eventually realizes that the Ninja is... Gray Fox! After the battle, Fox runs to take medications which his new life as a Cyborg Ninja requires frequently, and Snake meets Dr. Hal Emmerich, who prefers to be called Otacon, short for Otaku Convention, because he's a loser.

Snake withstands all of his torture by Ocelot in order to keep Meryl alive. The things men do to get laid is unbelievable.
Otacon states that he never knew Metal Gear was a nuclear device. He cries about his families connection with nuclear weapons. Snake didn't give a fuck for the most part, but decides to believe him. Otacon agrees on helping Snake destroy REX and Snake meets up with Meryl to go to the Communications Towers so they can get to where REX is kept. Meryl gets shot by Sniper Wolf, which creates a series of events that leads to both of them getting caught and tortured by Revolver Ocelot. Ocelot plays a game with Snake in which he is tortured by electricity. He can stop it anytime, but then Meryl would be killed. Snake manages to keep going through the torture segments and escape with help from either Otacon or Gray Fox. Rumor says Snake escaped with a bottle of Ketchup, but psh, c'mon now. While Ocelot keeps his word in regards to Meryl's life, Meryl was fucked around with by Ocelot because Ocelot is just a sick old bastard like that.

Snake and Otacon pay respect to a dying Sniper Wolf. This is one of the numerous times Otacon gets fucked over.
Snake goes to the Communications Towers again, this time facing Liquid Snake in his Hind D on top of the Communications Towers. Snake manages to take down the Hind D with Liquid Snake piloting it. Liquid crashes, there's an explosion, and all seems well. Snake takes an elevator down so that he can finally reach the other side of the Communication Towers. Aboard the elevator are four men in Stealth Camouflage suits. Despite being mostly invisible, Snake kills them all and then sets off to... get shot. This time, it was a sniper (guess who) and she totally ruins her cover by contacting him via Codec. Snake manages to defeat Sniper Wolf by shooting her in the lung. Snake pays his respects to the dying Wolf, who Otacon is in love with. Otacon gives her the sniper rifle he has always carried around and Snake shoots her so that she does not have to suffer anymore from bleeding from her lungs. Snake runs to the underground area where Metal Gear was kept. While on his way, he learns that Naomi is a spy for another group and that she is Gray Fox's adopted sister. It appears that FoxDie, a retrovirus, was altered by her so Snake can die and she can have her revenge for Fox's death. Snake understands Naomi's reasons but asks when he was going to die, for he still had a job to do. Naomi couldn't answer this as she was cut off by the Colonel who arrests her. Snake is furious at this, as he finds out that being injected with FoxDie was already part of the mission. Despite the fury, he continues on, and learnes how to use the PAL Card Key to disable REX.

Liquid Snake about to shoot Solid Snake, and possibly Meryl as well, after a car crash renders them temporarily immobile. FoxDie just so happens to kick in at the right time, finally killing the sociopath cockroach.
However he later learnes that after he used it, he actually activated REX! 'Doh! Master Miller laughs-out-loud (also known as "LOLing") at Snake and then reveals himself to be Liquid Snake! Liquid bitches about apparently being the genetically weakest of the Les Enfant Terribles, with Solid Snake being the strongest. Ironically, unknown to either brothers, Solid Snake is actually the weakest, with Liquid Snake being the genetically superior Snake of all the byproducts of the Les Enfant Terribles project. Liquid pilots REX as Snake fires Stinger missiles at REX's weakpoint. It wasn't enough and Liquid was about to use REX to step on Snake, but Gray Fox manages to appear out of nowhere, gives some sound advice about life to Snake, get torn apart and eventually destroy REX's radome. Liquid crushes Fox's exoskeleton under the pressure of Metal Gear REX's foot. This causes a lot of blood, guts and shit to fly around. Snake gets really angry, because that totally sucks, and starts firing missile at REX's now exposed cockpit where Snake could see his brother piloting it. Snake manags to cause Metal Gear to explode, and the impact causes Snake to get knocked out as Liquid walks up to him, picks him up, and carries him to the top of the now destroyed Metal Gear unit. Snake wakes up and finds Liquid in front of him. Liquid reveals to Snake that Meryl is sleeping with a bomb attached to her. Liquid activates the timer for the bomb and the two get into a fist fight on top of REX. Snake manages to knock Liquid off and deactivate the bomb. He awakes Meryl and they get a call from Otacon who says he'll stay behind to unlock all the doors so they can escape. Snake tries to convince him to save his own life, but Otacon won't let him talk him out of this. So Snake thanks him together with Meryl, they bone out. Liquid is still fucking alive somehow, and as Meryl and Snake ride a jeep to escape, Liquid follows them. They crash outside and Snake and Meryl get stuck under their jeep. Liquid aims to shoot Snake but dies from FoxDie, magically before he pulls the trigger. Meryl finds a bandanna for Snake which allows him to get unlimited ammunition sometimes and Snake tells the Campbell that the search party should look for Hal Emmerich, for he's still at Shadow Moses. Naomi was able to talk to Snake and she tells Snake to "live" when asked when the FoxDie virus will affect him.  In other words, she's a stupid cunt and nobody knows exactly when Snake will die.

THE START OF PHILANTHROPY

Snake and Meryl then retire in Alaska and live with together for a while. They somehow broke-up, or something, and Snake became alone and a damn drunk again. Otacon manages to get a hold of him and asks him if they can join forces to create an anti-Metal Gear group called "Philanthropy." Snake agrees and together they destroyed the many Metal Gears that appeared around the world due to Ocelot selling the Metal Gear REX testing data.

In 2007 things got shitty. Otacon received a message from an E.E. (which was the initials of his long-lost step-sister) that a Marine Corps. developed Metal Gear was being transported in a disguised Tanker. If Philanthropy got a hold of evidence that the Marines were developing a Metal Gear, their cause would be more recognized and not "fringe." Philanthropy was recognized by the United Nations, but wasn't big enough for them to give a fuck.

THE TANKER FUCK-UP

The U.S. Army Cypher takes this picture, which convinces the public that Solid Snake is a terrorist who took down an oil tanker. Also: Olga looks like a Q-tip.
Otacon told Snake that he got the information by hacking the Pentagon, and on August 8, 2007, Snake jumps off a bridge... onto a Tanker, damaging only his stealth camouflage which he didn't plan on using anyways. However, a group of armed soldiers with Russian equipment jumps onto the Tanker around the same time via helicopters. They kill the crew and hijack the tanker. Snake takes a picture of the commander of the group, who Otacon identifies as Sergei Gurlukovich, leader of a private army and good friends with Revolver Ocelot. Snake continues his mission onboard the Tanker and then battles Sergei's daughter, Olga, whom he at first mistakes for Meryl. Equipped with only an M9 modified to fire tranquilizer darts, Snake knocks out Olga. As he looks down at her sleeping body, a Cypher nearby takes a picture and disappears. This picture is used to convince the public that Snake is a terrorist who sinks an oil-tanker. The picture shows a woman lying on the floor, with Solid Snake having his gun out, looking as if he killed her.

Liquid Snake STILL lives, as his arm takes control of Ocelot's body whenever Solid Snake makes a peep. No, I don't know how either.
Snake doesn't know about this set-up and continues down to the Tanker holds where Metal Gear is held. The Marines are there to listen to a speech by Commandant Scott Dolph about the new Metal Gear, Metal Gear RAY. RAY ironically is supposed to stop the Metal Gear threat that's risen due to Ocelot's misdoing. Snake manages to sneak around the holds, take pictures of RAY and send them to Otacon on a near-by computer. Snake was about to escape the Tanker, but the speech was over, so he hides. He waits for everyone to leave but it appears no one was destined to, for a small applause is heard by all and Ocelot walks towards Dolph, telling him how his gift of the silver tongue proves him to be a liar. Sergei then manages to take Dolph hostage and his soldiers take control over the holds and get RAY ready to depart. They all talk loudly and Ocelot reveales the truth to Sergei: he couldn't care less if Russia "rotted." He's been working with The Patriots all along, and is taking RAY for them. Then, with a small gunfight, Dolph and Sergei fall dead and Ocelot gets ready to jump into RAY. Snake jumps out and yells at Ocelot. Ocelot looks at Snake and then his previously absent arm starts to twitch. Then Liquid Snake talks to Snake through Ocelot's body. Snake is surprised as would anybody else, but recognizes his brother's voice. It appears that Liquid managed to get his arm onto Ocelot's body (Ocelot's arm was cut off in Shadow Moses by Gray Fox). Liquid seems proud of this, and mocks Solid Snake's body for aging too fast. Then Snake gets hit by high-pressure water and Ocelot/Liquid jumps into RAY. Ocelot takes control of his body again and notices Snake, who was part of his plans. He smiles and was glad that he will leave him to die. Ocelot escapes via RAY, which tore apart the tanker.

However, Otacon manages to get a boat to Snake and saves him. Snake gets hyperthermia and Otacon leakes the pictures of RAY out. However, the Patriots are able to get a better story. Pictures of Snake taken by the Cypher was shown everywhere, claiming that Snake sunk an oil Tanker which caused the worst ecological terrorist act of all time. They did this to not only stop Philanthropy,  but to build The Big Shell, which is disguised as a oil clean-up facility.

INFILTRATING THE BIG SHELL

Solid Snake, in disguise as Iroquois Pliskin, meets Raiden and checks out his ass.
Snake and Otacon manage to hide and keep low profiles until 2009 when information leaks to them about a new massive Metal Gear being built at the Big Shell. Snake sneaks into the Big Shell on April 29, 2009 and finds out that it has been taken over by Dead Cell, and the same private army that took over the Tanker two years ago. Someone else had to be their leader, as Sergei died in 2007. It is found later that his daughter Olga now runs it. Snake manages to then get in disguise as a Navy SEAL. The SEALs are attacked by a "blood sucking freak" Vamp, member of Dead Cell. Vamp, with his magic Jesus abilities, was able to recognize Snake's scent (asking himself "Is it him?") and was close to fucking Snake's neck up if a random blonde in a sneaking suit didn't appear out of nowhere and shoo Vamp away using bullets. This blonde is Raiden, a rookie who was trained vigorously in VR, and is in FOX-HOUND... which is strange for FOX-HOUND had been disbanded years ago. Snake doesn't trust the rookie and identifies himself as Iroquois Pliskin. He gives Raiden his Codec frequency and often gives him support with information about the Big Shell, weapons, cardboard boxes, and such.

Later on, Snake and Raiden meet legendary bomb disposal expert Peter Stillman. A member of Dead Cell, Fatman, planted bombs all over the Big Shell. Stillman has Snake defuse all of the bombs at Shell 2 while Raiden does the same in Shell 1. All the bombs Raiden and Snake find are planted in places which would cause minimum damage. Stillman asks Snake to look for bombs at the bottom of the Shell while he works on a new sensor. Sure enough, a lot of C4s were planted there, and they are not detectable by the sensor Snake and Raiden currently had. Just then, Raiden disposes of the last of the C4s in Shell 1 that his sensor could detect. This causes the C4 on the bottom of the Shells to activate. Stillman runs to the bottom of Shell 2 (revealing that his broken leg is a hoax) to examine the bombs. Raiden manages to defuse the C4 in Shell 1. Shell 2 blows up and Snake, being near the explosion, blacks out. When he comes to, he receives a call from Otacon, who tells Snake that the Big Shell itself is covering up the new Metal Gear, Arsenal Gear. Literally. Arsenal is underneath the Big Shell.

Solid Snake and Solidus Snake meet for the first time. Snake never gets along with his relatives, as shown later with Snake launching a grenade at Solidus.
Otacon manages to jack a Kamov chopper, since he was sent in with the SEALs as a technician. Snake and Otacon were going to use it to save the hostages, but the terrorist leader who claimed to be Solid Snake approaches Raiden while the Kamov was on it's way over them. Snake is frustrated at this person stealing his name and impersonating Big Boss. Solid Snake (the real one) yells out "NO! That's NOT the real Solid Snake!" and the terrorist leader looks at Snake and laughs. They have a small conversation, and Snake gets pissed off and fires at this man, who is revealed to be Solidus Snake, the third byproduct of the Les Enfant Terribles project and George Sears, the President of the United States during the Shadow Moses incident. Snake launches a grenade out of his M4 to knock Solidus off of the bridge, which would have worked well if Vamp didn't happen to be around flying the Harrier 2. Vamp saves Solidus's fall and has Solidus sit in the cockpit. Snake, realizing that he is in a tight situation being inside of a Kamov chopper, he throws a Stinger Missile Launcher at Raiden and some ammo. Raiden manages to destroy the Harrier, but as it is about to crash into the ocean, Metal Gear RAY arises from the water and saves Solidus and Vamp. RAY fires some missiles and one of them manages to clipped the Kamov, which causes Otacon to land someplace so he could repair it. Raiden asks Snake if he really is Solid Snake, and Snake admits the obvious.

The Handshake. Rumor has it that upon completion of this scene, Hideo Kojima stated "Yeah let's see Ravi Singh try making fun of this!" and claimed that it looks "dope."
Snake, back into the Big Shell, tries to find a way in Arsenal Gear. He continues giving support to Raiden via Codec and eventually tells him the truth of the Tanker incident in 2007. Raiden finds Emma Emmerich, the programmer of Arsenal Gear's AI, and has her cross the Oil Bridge so she can get to the computer room at Shell 1, for the bridge from Shell 2 to Shell 1 broke thanks to that motherfucking Harrier. Snake, on his way to give Emma cover with a Sniper Rifle, is attacked by a Cyborg Ninja similar to Gray Fox from Shadow Moses. They fight and Snake finds out that under the exoskeleton is Olga Gurlukovich, the daughter of Sergei Gurlukovich, new leader of the Gurlukovich Private Army, and the same woman Snake battled on the Tanker. Snake tells Olga the truth of the Tanker incident and how Revolver Ocelot betrayed Sergei and sunk the Tanker. Olga believes this, as Ocelot is a very suspicious guy. Together, they made a plan to get themselves and Raiden into Arsenal Gear. Snake then gets Olga's Codec frequency and runs to the other side of the Oil Bridge and helps Raiden cover Emma. Near the end of the bridge, Vamp jumps out of the water and holds Emma hostage. Raiden shoots Vamp off of the bridge, but as Vamp was knocked down, he managed to give Emma a deep wound. What seems very odd is the fact that Snake did nothing to prevent this. Most likely, he had a better view than Raiden and could have prevented this but Snake just didn't do it, for some unknown reason. Snake ditches his rifle, runs up to the wounded girl, picks her up, and carries her to the computer room. There he bandaged her as well as he could. Raiden arrives, gives Emma the optical disc which contained the digital FoxDie virus which was designed to destroy G.W., the AI that controls Arsenal Gear. Apparently, an anti-virus program didn't allow this to happen, and Emma dies in Otacon's arms. Otacon goes nearly insane. Snake manages to calm Otacon down and convinces him to continue their objective to fly the hostages to safety. Otacon thinks he is doing this only because he would be interfering with the destruction of Arsenal Gear, but Snake assures him it's only because he's "the only one who can do it." They do some weird-ass hand shake and Otacon walks to where the hostages are kept.

ARSENAL GEAR'S DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

After knocking out Raiden, Snake and Olga share an awkward silence.
Snake turns to Raiden and calls for someone else to show up. Olga jumps down from the ceiling in her Cyborg Ninja disguise. Olga reveals herself and Raiden believes that Snake has betrayed him. Olga knocks Raiden out and carries him to Arsenal Gear. Snake manages to sneak in as well with Olga's assistance. Snake changes out of his Pliskin suit and into his sneaking suit. Olga gives Snake Raiden's confiscated equipment and clothes, and her HF Blade. Snake is a bit confused as to why she gives up the katana, but he doesn't bother to ask and sneaks his way to a hallway. He sees Raiden running around the hall completely naked. Snake makes a crack at this and gives Raiden his equipment and the HF Blade, along with a few tips as to using it. Snake doesn't want it because he's "not a fan of blades." After Raiden gets used to using it, they go off to get to where the twenty-five Metal Gear RAYs are located. On their way, Snake and Raiden get caught by a Cypher and an army of Arsenal Tengu soldiers jump down to take Snake and Raiden out. Snake and Raiden manage to get to the other side of the hallway, clearing any armed assholes in their way. They reach another room and are interrupted by Arsenal Tengus again. They take down all of the Tengus and are about to continue their way until Fortune, Dead Cell's leader, walks in with tears in her eyes. She still believes that Snake killed her father, Commandant Scott Dolph, in the tanker. Snake tries to tell her what really happened but Fortune does not bother to listen. Snake has Raiden go up the ladder as he attempts to fight Fortune. Fortune has a device that reflects bullets and causes bombs to become duds. Obviously, Snake loses and surrenders.

Solid Snake is no match for handcuffs. Raiden, however, is. Luckily, Snake doesn't trip on Fortune's leg.
Being held captive in handcuffs, Snake is taken up where most of the RAYs (there to protect Arsenal Gear) were destroyed by Raiden. Raiden was captured as well, and faces interrogation by Solidus. Ocelot then reveals to everyone fact that he's a Patriot spy. The entire incident, except for the appearance of Solid Snake, was planned by his people, The Patriots. Even Fortune's invincibility was set-up, and Ocelot now has the device with him, and he fatally shoots Fortune. Ocelot then jumps into the remaining RAY and aims missiles at Snake, Solidus, Raiden, and a dying Fortune. Fortune however still manages to reflect the missiles and saves everyone else before bleeding to death. Ocelot then was going to kill the rest by using the last remaining Metal Gear RAY unit, but Snake's voice causes Liquid Snake to take over. Liquid jumps out and laughs at his brothers below. Liquid was the one who made Snake come here by leaking Arsenal Gear information to Otacon so that Snake can make him take complete control over Ocelot at the right moment, with this apparently was. Liquid then states that he was off to destroy the Patriots.  He knows their location since he's been attached to Ocelot, and apparently they told Ocelot. He jumps into RAY, and takes off. Snake, being manly, breaks out of his handcuffs and jumps behind RAY into the ocean. He manages to plant a tracker onto Liquid's RAY and swims to safety. Otacon has a boat ready and picks Snake up. Snake feels like he needs to talk to Raiden because everything that occurred on that day was really fucked up. He waits near Federal Hall, and meets Raiden, who's very confused. Snake tells Raiden he can choose his own life, his own path, and send his ideas to the next generation for genes cannot send them. Raiden asks about Olga's baby, and Snake states that he will take care of it. As for Liquid, Snake is sure that the Patriots gave Ocelot a bogus location. He shows Raiden the optical disc with the virus which should have their names and locations encoded within it, since that information is bound to be something Arsenal Gear's AI, G.W., would want erased. Raiden stated he was ready to help them, but Snake tells Raiden to finish his business that he needs to take care of. Snake quickly jumps into Otacon's car and they drive off when Raiden was not looking. In a safe area, Otacon analyzes the FoxDie virus and finds out that all twelve Patriots have died... about a hundred years ago. Snake can not say anything else except for "...what the hell?!"

SOLID SNAKE THROUGH THE YEARS

Operation: Intrude N313 (1995)

Metal Gear (1987)
Solid Snake after earning his Snake codename. Despite numerous rumors, Snake is indeed wearing a bandanna, as seen in his transmitter picture. As odd as it may seem, the artwork above is not done by Yoji Shinkawa despite looking somewhat similar to his depiction of Snake 1998 and beyond.
Operation: Intrude F014 (1999)

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990)
Solid Snake's look, along with numerous characters in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, was based off an actor, in this case Mel Gibson. However, this was changed in the 2004 mobile phone re-release. Wither or not Solid Snake hates Jews or not is debatable, but it's highly unlikely.
Shadow Moses Incident (2005)

Metal Gear Solid (1998)
Yoji Shinkawa created the Solid Snake everyone can recognize. Or at least, everyone who matters. In the beginning of Metal Gear Solid, Snake has long hair, much like Liquid Snake's. In order to make sure there is no confusion, he cuts his hair right before he goes off on his mission. Apparently, Snake is damn good at cutting hair, because the cut actually does not look bad at all.
The Manhattan Incidents (2007 & 2009)

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)
Solid Snake apparently likes the mullet, though (or just doesn't give a fuck), as he is seen sporting the style ever since the end of the Shadow Moses incident. Snake also suffers from rapid aging due to the fact that the Les Enfant Terribles project took place in the early 70's when cloning technology was not as good as it should be. Thus, his face makes him look older than he really is, something Liquid Snake mocks when he meets Snake on the Tanker.
Solid Snake Becomes Old Snake (20XX)

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (unreleased)
Old Snake, also known as Grandpa Dave to some, is really in his 40's despite looking, well, old. This look is due to the flaws of the Les Enfant Terribles Project: Big Boss's body at the time of cloning and the fact that the cloning took place in 1972, a time where cloning was not really an established science. Solid Snake, even as Old Snake, can still kick your ass though, so don't get caught talking shit. And yes, he is Solid Snake.

INTERESTING FACTS

  • Lucky Strikes are his favorite brand of cigarettes, according to the original release of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.
  • Told Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty that he is "not a fan of blades." This could be a reference to the shitty and noncanon Snake's Revenge where Snake has a knife and uses it a lot. Oddly enough, he sports one in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, possibly for CQC purposes.
  • Is often mistaken for his brothers despite their differences. In Metal Gear Solid, Meryl at first thinks Solid Snake is Liquid Snake (despite the lack of British, long hair, and blondeness). Solidus Snake is able to portray himself as Solid Snake despite not having a smoker's throat and being the former President of the United States. Snake was also able to pretend his death by using Liquid Snake's dead body, though this is because of DNA testing (all the Snakes being clones) and there is the possibility of Liquid's hair being dyed to make his resemblance to Snake even more effective.
  • There is a lot of Otacon and Snake yaoi. I have no fucking idea why this is, but ok.
  • Solid Snake is the only product of the Les Enfant Terribles that is known to not follow Big Boss' footsteps.
  • Despite looking the same as his previous designs by Yoji Shinkawa, Solid Snake as Old Snake is based off of American actor Lee Van Cleef. Oddly enough, this actor was the basis for the appearance of Revolver Ocelot.

Fortified with Metal Gear goodness since 2003!

This website believes in freedom of speech; protecting speech one might not particularly like. While the site's content and images are somewhat harmless, there is some language parents and others might not approve of. If that's so, please go to another site. Most of our allies don't use such language. Another thing; a vast majority of Metal Gear games are either unrated, or rated "M" by the ESRB, for mainly violence, blood, and mild language. The staff of The 'Soup, or any affiliated parties are not responsible for your viewing actions. If you can't stand such content, get out and go to another site. Thank you for respecting our rights and beliefs as much as we respect yours.

Content on forums, though regulated, may contain highly offensive material.
