Raiden looks at the old cellphone the Ninja hands him with a very puzzled
look that screams "What the fuck? No iPhone Nano?"

Phone
Used by: Raiden
CONTENTS:
DESCRIPTION
Mobile phone with vibration feature. Allows receiving of E-mails.
The phone offers nothing else besides that. The phone vibrates upon the arrival
of a new E-mail.
USE IN THE BIG SHELL
Upon meeting the Ninja only known as Mr. X, Raiden obtains some information to the
whereabouts of the hostages, a BDU to disguise himself with, a Level 2 card, and
a phone. Raiden looks at this phone, which is probably around ten years old, and
is about to ask why the fuck a cell phone would be needed during this mission, until
he realizes that while he was looking at the phone, Mr. X jumped off of the roof
of Strut E and ran off. Classic.
The phone does come in handy once in a while despite it's age and lack of the ability
to do anything but receive e-mails. It is revealed that The Patriots ordered Mr.
X to give Raiden these items, giving evidence that either Mr. X or The Patriots
themselves are the author of the e-mails. Regardless, the phone helps Raiden with
small hints such as extinguishing fire using the Coolant Spray. Wooo.
PHONE THROUGH THE YEARS
The Big Shell Incident (2009)

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (2001)
Apparently, The Patriots are cheap bastards. Not only is the phone from
the early 2000's, but it lacks the ability to do anything but receive E-mails.
It doesn't even receive text messages.

INTERESTING FACTS
-
Please shut off your phone while watching a motion picture in theaters.
Even putting it on vibrate sometimes creates an annoying "BZZZ" noise. Even
more annoying is push-to-talk... anywhere, that is.
-
The Japanese can use mobile phones to make vending machine purchases.
-
The Japanese can also play Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake on their
mobile phones, if such phones are compatible with both game's requirements.
