Sure, some of them do feel asleep, but there are still soldiers who actually
give a fuck about their country!

DESCRIPTION
Two exclamation marks. Signifies that a RED ALERT has been triggered.
During a stealth mission, seeing "!!" is considered an epic failure because not
only does it mean that you got spotted, it means that EVERYBODY knows where you
are, and they're coming to fuck your shit up.
USE IN OUTER HEAVEN
Whenever Solid Snake went
through a detection laser, got caught on camera or by a enemy sentry who actually
gave a fuck, an alert is triggered. The difference between an alert triggered
by "!!" and one triggered by "!" is that that extra "!" means that Snake is fucked
unless he does something drastic like run to the nearest elevator, kill everyone (they keep on coming),
and such. Snake faced the horrors of "!!" a couple of times during Outer Heaven,
but still managed to complete the mission alive and never saw it again.
!! THROUGH THE YEARS
Operation: Intrude N313 (1995)

Metal Gear (1987)
This becomes the last time Solid Snake ever sees it.
Enlarged to show how intense the red exclamation
marks against the yellow looks.

INTERESTING FACTS
-
Since "!" means "not" in some coding languages, "!!" therefore means
"not not" as in "true." What?
-
-
!!, or "Chk Chk," is 2/3 of a name of some random band.
