BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Drago Pettrovich Madnar is a brilliant Russian scientist who took part in
creating Big Boss' Metal Gear units. He has a daughter by the name of Ellen Pettrovich.
KIDNAPPED BY OUTER HEAVEN

A fake Dr. Pettrovich attempts to lure Solid Snake into a trap. How they managed
to get somebody to look exactly like Dr. Pettrovich is fucking insane.
|
Sometime before 1995, Dr. Madnar was on his way to the United States when
his plane was hijacked and he was kidnapped so that he could build a Metal Gear
for Outer Heaven. Just in case Petrovich might've refused, they also kidnapped
his daughter and threatened to do horrible things that can be done to young
women. So Dr. Madnar got to work on Metal Gear TX-55 at once. In addition, he
developed the TX-11 set of twin androids called Bloody Brad. Just in case somebody
may attempt to rescue Dr. Madnar, a master of disguise sat was left near a floor
trap.
Ironically, it would be the leader of Outer Heaven, Big Boss, who would help
Pettrovich escape by sending in FOX-HOUND rookie
Solid Snake. Solid Snake
manages to rescue Dr. Madnar and Ellen. It should be noted that Dr. Madnar refused
to help Solid Snake destroy TX-55 unless he rescued his daughter, because his
daughter is more important than the fate of the world. Selfish prick. Dr. Madnar
then tells Snake the secret to completely destroying the incomplete TX-55.
MADNAR GOES MAD
Inspired by his work at Outer Heaven, Dr. Madnar gets to work on concepts for
several war machines, including a new Metal Gear. During his stay in the United
States, the scientific community looks down upon him and label him as a scholar
of madness while he proposed his ideas to the government as well as private
military corporations, who rejected his ideas. Sick of being ridiculed for his
technology, Dr. Madnar accepts an offer by Zanzibar Land (run by most of the
escaped members of Outer
Heaven) upon his release to develop these war machines, one of them being
Metal Gear D, in addition to sending technological information from eastern
and western technologies to Zanzibar Land as a double agent of sorts.
REVENGE IS SERVED COLD IN ZANZIBAR
Despite landing a good job developing pretty hate machines for Zanzibar Land,
Dr. Madnar was still butthurt because his colleague from the Prague academy,
Dr. Kio Marv, was being raved for developing
OILIX. Of course, the credit
was well deserved considering the fact that the world at the time had a huge
energy shortage. Dr. Madnar and Big Boss develop a plan to kidnap Dr. Kio Marv,
steal his OILIX formula, and ultimately hold an iron grip on the world's future
energy source.
In December 1999, Dr. Madnar manages to fly on the same plane as Dr. Marv, who
was on his way to the International Energy Problem Conference. Then, Zanzibar
Land mercenaries hijack the plane and kidnap Kio Marv and his escort, Gustava
(Natasha in the MSX version). FOX-HOUND sends in Solid Snake in Operation: Intrude
F014 to rescue Dr. Marv. Dr. Madnarh deceives Snake by telling him that he was
kidnapped along with Kio Marv and was forced to develop a new Metal Gear unit
for Zanzibar Land. Pettrovich goes off about his fucking daughter Ellen again
and how he wants to see her finally get married already, and then gives Snake
his zoologist friend Johan Jacobsen's (Yozef Norden in the MSX version) transmitter
frequency.

Dr. Madnar leaves Snake and Natasha to take a piss... or so he says!!!
|
Dr. Madnar then is seemingly "rescued" by Snake and Natasha and leads
Natasha to her death by alerting Zanzibar Land (while Snake and Natasha believed
he was taking a piss) that Snake and Natasha would be headed for "the Bridge
of Sorrow" outside of the detention center. Thus, once they reach the bridge--and
Dr. Madnar crosses first "just in case" it may collapse--a missile from Metal
Gear D hits the bridge, destroying it and killing Natasha.
Pettrovich is carried off by Zanzibar Land guards and then interrogates Dr.
Marv himself. Kio Marv repeatedly refused to give up the OILIX formula, which
made Pettrovich get more pissed by the second. By the time Solid Snake reaches
them, it's too late for Dr. Madnar has already murdered him. Dr. Madnar still
played his innocence game until Holly White calls Snake and alerts him of
Dr. Pettrovich's connections with Zanzibar Land. Pettrovich then decides to
jump on Snake's back and hump him to death or something while choking him.
Annoyed, Snake quickly kills him, probably using remote-controlled missiles.
Near his death, Dr. Madnar wonders how his daughter, Ellen, is fairing back
in the East and reveals the weak point of Metal Gear D--the legs.

Operation: Intrude N313 (1995)

Metal Gear (1987)
Pettrovich looks like a skinny Dr. Eggman (Sonic The Hedgehog) in
the portrait.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990)
Whereas Dr. Madnar looks like Albert Einstein in the original
1990 release of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, the re-release has him look
like some old guy who shaved his eyebrows off. He sports a mustache rather
than a beard now. Snake also seems to notice that he looks like he lost
some weight since the last time he saw him in Outer Heaven.

INTERESTING FACTS
-
Dr. Drago Pettrovich Madnar's name has been changed frequently.
It was first simply "Dr. Pettrovich" in the original Metal Gear. Metal
Gear 2: Solid Snake added the surname Madnar. In the 2005 re-releases
of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, his first name is revealed
as Drago. It would be correct to call him by Dr. Pettrovich or Dr. Madnar.
-
The blueprints for Metal Gear D can be seen in Granin's office in
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which takes place in 1964. It is unknown
wither or not this is an easter egg, or if Granin was actually the one
who planned out Metal Gear D rather than Dr. Pettrovich.
-
In Snatcher, Dr. Pettrovich Madnar (Madnor in the SEGA CD English
translation) was behind the development of the Snatcher project. However,
the two games (Snatcher and Metal Gear) are not part of the same series
canon.
-
Near the end of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, George Kassler informs
Snake that it is rumored that Dr. Pettrovich revived Big Boss via the
Snatcher project. This rumor is not true, though, as I prove in my
myth article.
