Japanese Peace Walker: March 18? Try April 29.

Posted on January 29, 2010 03:46 am

No, seriously. It's only been two months since Konami announced the Japanese release date for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, a week since they've announced the PSP bundles and less than a day that they announced said bundles being prizes for Piece Walker and already the release date in Japan will be pushed from March 18th to April 29th.

Based on what little I can decipher from a translated Famitsu page, the delay is due to time being needed to polish the game so that the final game is satisfactory for customers. Could this have anything to do with Konami Digital Entertainment's fairly recent inquiry for feedback from western audiences?

Delays aren't anything new. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was delayed twice, with one time being so dramatic that it cost Konami in the stock market the next day so I really do think there is a good reason behind it since there's no reason to fuck around like they did with MGO. What I'm really worried about is whether this delay affects the release dates for North America and Europe. I actually have suspected that the reason why the release dates were set for two months after the original Japanese release date mainly because a certain game being available to western audiences in March, but if this is not the case then we're all going to get fucked.

EDIT:
Seems like we're all fine.

In other news, Kojima Productions has recalled a fuckload of the posters they made less than a week ago which promises a March 18th release in Japan. So if you see or have one of these posters that lie, please contact Kojima Productions as soon as possible or just fix it yourself.
