Here's something few expected.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is supposed to be an action title developed by the folks behind Bayonetta starring "cool Raiden who moves without awkward feeling in 60 frames" cutting everything the fuck up with his tool of justice. He even drives a car even though he has the ability to scale entire Metal Gears. So you would think this game would have less talking and more... I dunno, cutting, right? Well, maybe not.
While Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots scaled down the amount of codec conversations, it still had more than most action gamers would have liked. Still, Rising probably will have more codec conversations because god damn it, this is still a Metal Gear game. This would be less surprising if the codec acts like the radio in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, where you can call anytime but, except for some cutscenes, are not actual conversations, just lines from select people.
Either way, Kojima Productions said that the codec calls really helps the atmosphere of the game. Should we expect one-liners whenever Raiden decapitates enemies? How about REVENGEANCE RADIO, playing the best 1980-1990s hair metal? Will Raiden call himself to have monologues and eventually admit that he's a killer?

Sorry, no update yet. Hey man, I try my best to keep you guys up to date with the latest Metal gear news (with commentary!), leave me alone!
Actually, no, I'd like your help. The Shorty Award nomination process is going on right now. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first year there has been a "fansite" category (although there was a "gaming" category in 2011). So would you please take the time to nominate us using a Twitter account?
I mean, seriously, wouldn't you rather have a Metal Gear fansite that has provided up-to-date news with humorous commentary, myth busting articles and opinionated editorials covering topics ranging from the fictional universe within the games and their creation among other things win this than a Jonas Brothers themed Formspring account?
